msgs like this help establish the notion that this is an indian website dedicated to indian immigration issues. I didnt see any post wishing happy Eid/ Eid Mubarak nor did I notice last year that anyone wished a Merry Christmas/ Happy Holidays, nor do we wish our Chinese friends a Happy Chinese New Year.

I spent some time analyzing the draft and I conclude that status-quo is better as the Law-makers will continue to feel the pressure for a "true reform". The bill in current form does more harm than good and this is also evident from press reports. It is also evident that there aren't any known amendments that would change the face of this bill and it appears that the process we are currently seeing on the senate floor is a staged drama. One must remember, if any bill is passed, then there wont be any more reforms for years to come. Just my opinion.

I called them several times yesterday until I was able to get hold of a good rep. Most of these reps are rude and they dont even care to listen to what I was asking.
The "good" rep told me that my case has been pre-adjudicated in the month of April and everything is all set and that they are waiting for the visa number. He said I might be getting another FP if it takes too long, but other than that everything is set. He did provide me quite a bit of information about my case, he told me that my name check and also background verification is also complete. He was even able to tell me how many EADs and APs have been issued to me against my 485. Hope this helps.

May be this is not a prediction thread. But the OP and some others are all about VB in another thread or two. While I personally dont have any issue with it, it just frustates me that people dont understand that VB is not going to do any magic for PD's in 2003 or later. C mon Lets be realistic. After doing all the math in so many threads, Does any one expect that the PD will be some where in the ending of 2003. Hell no. Then why is that we have a Dec Bulletin thread way back? Now some one is gonna come start a Jan prediction thread. Useless. I hate to comment on this but I hope people understand the difference between discussion as you said(which I personally agree) and useless predictions when they can make educated guess and do something else.

As far as the futility of predictions go, I agree with you. the beauty of this thread is in seeing someone (like GCanyMinute) say that their PD is now current. while we commiserate about our condition, it is the ray of hope that keeps all of us sane does it not?

Yes, exactly! One has to be cautious about his/her surroundings.
I would be as cautious in NYC as I would be in Mumbai, since my adopted town now, and my hometown in India are both not NYC or Mumbai! If I venture out into DC, I would be more cautious than I would be if I went out to buy milk in the 'burbs of NOVA where I live!

Thanks nrk. I am keeping my fingers crossed. I was current for two months in 2008 but did not get. So hoping for the best this time but again I would not be surprised if I don't get it, especially looking at USCIS/DOS works.

If you have Citibank account in india, ask your parents or friends to deposit money into that account. Then you can withdraw money in dollars in citibank ATMs at 7-11 here in US since, Thats what i do.

I know many of us are frustrated because of EAD delay. I am one of them and today I called up USCIS.
Here is the sequence.
1) 1 800 375 5283
2) 1,2,2,6,1 receipt notice# 1,3,4
3) you will have to wait for 10 to 15 minutes and one of the officer will come online for you.
4) at least they will give you information about your case ( mine is sent to some storage and they had to issue an expedite request to get it processed again. I am july 2 filer with notice dat of sept 8,2007 3 infopass apointments, 1 SR). the officer has access to look at the file and can give you appropriate information( they are not like regular service agents who will read what you see on USCIS.gov).
5) as of now they told me that I will information from USCIS in 2 weeks.

So the bill passed the voting ....
but it failed because it was ruled "out-of-order" and hence rejected ...
I dont know why it was ruled out of order ... maybe because it was attached to the defence spending bill so it was not the right place to put in this kind of amendment....

I received my EAD last month. But no AP yet. However, i received an email from my lawyer today that.....my AP got rejected. The rejection letter is saying that I485 got approved that's why the I131 is rejected.....therefore, my lawyer is waiting for the I485 approval.....but my lawyer told me that I can expect my card soon.
I don't know how to react. The online doesn't have any update about the I485 status yet. They received my application on July 2, 2007.

I have known these fence sitters and claimers of all the intelligence in the world for long. In my personal life I have started ignoring them and we can do the same in this effort.
Let these people shout (because that is all they can do rather than real work). If somebody shouts a lot ban him from the board and let's proceed peacefully.
Opposing ideas from active members are always appreciated but someone who just knows how to oppose but never do anything kills motivation. Whether right or wrong it is a bad call for any plan.
So even if somebody thinks he/she is giving good advice but they are not doing anything to help us let's kick them out.
Let these people shout (because that is all they can do rather than real work). If somebody shouts a lot ban him from the board and let's proceed peacefully.

1. Are all applications which have a 485 RD within the processing date, are processed? or
2. Only applications which have a RD within the processing date and whose PD is current, are processed.
As per the uscis approvals it was all happening randomly,,sometimes they stick with rules and sometimes not..ofcourse PD should be current but ProcessingDates vs 485 RD its still stands a mystery.
