Aren't the MODERATORS part of CORE Group?
Just a thought which came to my mind after seeing the video, whereby it is mentioned that the Post's realted to Finance been deleted by the Online Moderators in past.

Just got back (I am from NC, went by Bus from RTP).
Attending the Rally felt really good. We are legal and we should have spoken up long ago!
IV effots and organization was great!
It was seriously expecting more people though. That was really sad ! So many banners & signboard... but not that many people. :mad:
I doubt if the count was greater than 1500...

My H1b is going to expire on April 17th. I had found a new job and they had applied for my H transfer on March 27th. I would like to know
1. How many days is required to get a H1b transfer receipt.
2. What happens if my H1B expires before i get a receipt.
3. Should i go on EAD or continue on H1B. My wife is a green card holder for last 3 years 6 months.

Babu, thanks for confirming that this stupid rule is in fact true. I always wonder how USCIS gets crafty in making new rules.
It will be easier to just get the stamping done in INDIA. That way, will get stamp till 2010.
Looking at reply from Babu. I think Babu. got I-94 corrected through Amended H1 (INS) . and then travelled to INDIA. While returning from INDIA
by the last updated rule He would have retuned with a valid I-94.

Someone told me that taking color photocopy of PR is illegal just like you cannot take color photocopy of currency. Maybe a B&W copy is an alternative.
Btw, why is this hatred towards someone that just walked out of the queue? Blame the system, not the poor individuals who have also waited like everybody else. Instead of venting out on innocent people, do something constructive to help yourself and others. As a donor, pls post responsibly. Guys, give me red if it is wrong to say that.

Friend, with all due respect; what the members requested was to post some information about yourself. are you a immigrant? do you have any application pending / approved etc.
This helps us identify with you as a group.

Just as in any other trade, surely there are many abusers, however, this economy fueled itself to the top of the world in a lot of things using talents from around the world and that was mainly via the temporary work visas including H1b. Now you might meet 1 person in say 100000 who falls into the catagory you mentioned and none of us entertain such people with any respect.

I Still think we have a good chance atleast all those with priority date before today.
The economy is not improving and I doubt if it will in next 4-5 years. Even though there is slight improvent the jobless claims went up

Can we utilize the US Citizen children to campaign for our cause. We can highlight our cause better that way. We shall certainly get more attention. We also must make sure to highlight that we are LEGAL immigrants.

1. US Govt. revoked the policy to grant legal status to parents of US born children few years back(per NumberUSA they are called Anchor Baby-- go figure.. I hate this term very much).
2. I had read somewhere of similar case where a family tried to appeal for themselves in a court arguing that his US born child has all the rights to be raised in his country of birth and that he would need his parents to do so, hence the plea. They were told that they could take the child back to home country and US will be glad to welcome the baby when he/she turns 18.

The current economic crisis has many victims. To hear about this 90 year old woman who attempted suicide is depressing too. There is a slight twist at the end, Fannie Mae forgave her debt.

On a different note, what about us folks who have been on this never ending path to legal immigration for ever and such events e.g economic crisis, rising unemployement etc impact us in a huge way and we don't have any recourse. What do you guys think should the USCIS do? Should they "forgive" us our circumstances. Should there be special rules in these unforseen circumstances?

Hello,
So yesterday (Saturday) was another surprize, a pleasant one again! I got a call from the same IO who told me that he got all the documents that I had sent and has cleared my case for approval, but now my fingerprints have expired.
He asked if I could come right away to his office and he could give me an instant fingerprinting appointment in the nearby INS office. When I told him that I'm currently out of country on business trip and won't be back in US till April, he said he will send me an appointment near April 15th.
I thanked him for his follow-up and he said he was just doing his job. I know this might be an exception than a rule, but just wanted to acknowledge this particular IO and hope there are more like him.

I vaguely remember a discussion several months ago on the forum about people that have gone back to their home countries after having waited for their green cards.
We have a media interview opportunity and need to find such examples. I remember an instance about a person going back to Bombay after he had immigration issues. He had set up his company there. Such people who could have helped US economy and growth will make a compelling story.
Pls. let me know urgently of any such cases and I will follow it up. This is required today and we have a short time window.
I know a fellow countryman of mine who left but did not go back home. He is now in the UK on the HSMP (Highly Skilled Migrant Program). What information do you need? I may have to contact him for his approval, so let me know.

The problem that IV member Drifter had with his I485 application has been fixed. IV had contacted USCIS and USCIS said that they will reinstate his case.

"It is the combination of her I-485 receipt and the EAD that demonstrate her current status of adjustment applicant. If the admissions people are confused they need to talk with their foreign student advisor who should be well versed in this stuff. She is no longer an F-1 and therefore not subject to any F-1 rules �
I guess it's up to the school to determine if they will allow her to finish her degree on AOS/EAD. some of you suggested ..school can make rules. We suggested to school that that other school do allow partial course load in certain situations. They say it may be true ..but they don't have that policy.
If they don't allow her..i don't see any option but to fork up 7-8K. It would be great if you can provide me an official document /link indicating she can study during AOS.

We went home after my wife started working using the EAD. After we came back we applied for your H1 and H4 extension and one we got that now we are in H status instead of EAD status. It is a little tricky. When we came back we entered as parolee but once we applied and extended our H1\H4 status we ar eback to H1\H4 status. Your lawyer would be able to explain it better.
My lawyer suggetsed that it is better to be in H status as it gives some manuvering time and opportunity in case the 485 is denied.

As for the things you ask below - why should he do any of the things you ask for - its none of his business. Or actually, its none of our business to tell him how to conduct his business.
Don't want to get into a mudslinging fest here - just wanted to point out that sometimes posts like the original one are useful.
You can do hero worship of your lawyer whoever it is. I will not.
Ask him/her if he will do advocacy effort for you or sue USCIS since all his clients are struggling in the long wait and spending a lot of money on immigration consultations, fees etc.
Ask him if he contribute to IV instead?

Hi Guys,
I live in Peoria, IL . This place is 3 hours south of Chicago. Just now, I joined the group. I would like to know whether the residents of IL state are going to DC. If yes, is there any BUS planned for the travel or have they formed any group to travel by Air or Van or Car etc.
As DC area will be new for IL residents, if there are known troop, it would be easy to move from airport and also to reach the rally destination etc.
I would appreciate members responding about their group plan so that it would be convinent for others to join the troop and proceed to the desired rally.

If an individual already has a pending AOS application on file when a retrogression occurs that places the cutoff earlier than the applicant's priority date, USCIS sets the application aside and will not adjudicate it until the priority date is current again. chandu, I agree with you. They definitely don't deserve flowers. They deserve a pile of **** - you know what. Although I did send flowers as per IV's directive I am not Gandhian. I think Gandhian philosophy only works in movies and books. Although this is very controversial and I might invite the wrath of many on this board - but hey I am entitled to my opinion :D - Peace

I think your lawyer is screwing you. $7,500 just for labor certification.I know, my lawyer is not cheap, but as a result we were able to file i-485 2 months before my son turned 21. It was big relief for our family.
Also she is very good in communication - I have copy of all documents, including I-140 approval and I-485 submission (around 3 inches of paper :) )

As long as she is in status, she can apply for a visa change. What is her status on the day she files for H1 ? If it is legal (H4 has not expired et al) , things should be fine.
