Most of the state colleges, (In my case, none of the state colleges), including under-grad and medical schools, will accept application, if you do not have GC/ US citizenship. I tried, wrote letters, but of no use.
You can apply and get admission in private college, which of course cost much more.
Also, we were not able to take any federal loans.
Hi Dinesh, in your quote above were you intending to say that most state colleges WILL NOT accept applications if you do not have GC/citizenship? So to attend a state college you NEED TO BE a GC holder/citizen? If that is the case how come lot of international students come here and attend state colleges for MS/Phds and get assistanships/fee waivers?

Im july 5th filer .Filed I140 and I 485 conc .Opened SR for FP because didnt recieve it till NOV .In NSC_CSC_NSC.next day after opening SR i got Fp notice .Obvously nothin to do with SR .Got reply for SR after a month which says " Status I-485 USCIS is waiting boimetrics info to produce permanent residency card "
Any idea what would this statement mean ?

Me too.
I added some facts about how much I paid in SSN, Medicare, Fed and State taxes (in the last 10 years that I have been here) as well as some detail about what I'm contributing (patent pending) to this country. Another thing I mentioned was about my volunteering during the 2008 campaign (implying that I would be voting for the president's party if I ever become a US citizen in 2050 :~).

I am not sure why so many people so naively jump to the defence of India without looking at the context in which things are said.
Most Indians love India and that includes most NRIs. If there was any doubt just look at the support the NRI PAC gave in pushing the nuclear deal.
The main point here is that this thread was started on the premise that the negotiation of this deal to transfer social security payments was somehow good news for our money. I think one can disagree with this and still love India.
Frankly, if my choice was between foregoing the money here and that money going for something good such as infrastructure development in India, I and I am sure most Indians here will happily sign off on those funds.
Point however is I do not see it as good news for our social security money.

just FYI..sanjose rally which i also attended and flower campaign( IV members and supporters) was the main and only reason why government change the july visa bulletin by accepting application till august 17th.Luckily i was able to file in that period. I got my reciepts but still waiting for finger printing notice and all and I know if we will not do anything final GC will take another 10 years...so please keep doing this and participating when you can and hats off immigration voice

I am trying to figure out the impact of this ruling on the current usage of visa numbers.
I am from ROW so I would like to see how many more from ROW would demand visa numbers due to this new ruling.
Obviously this is important to India and China as well because the only way these two categories would get more visa numbers is from ROW overflow this year as these categories have used up most of their visa numbers for the year.
If I understand correct ROW 1 overflows to ROW 2 and ROW 3 and when ROW 3 current Over flow over to India/China

Although I�m happy with my current employer I just wish for having such a problem � you have to wait 5 more months � or maybe 6 and there you go.
We have to wait years here and have to be careful for everything � renew EAD, renew AP in time (how about H1 and L1's not able to file for GC ... ), oh yeah -do not change job or if you do you have to be conform with certain things; and do not be laid off since other than not having income it sucks a bit from the immigration side too�; and so on, sorry guys something is really f�. up here;

Just suck it up and go for it. It seems unfair but that is a fact of life. Think about what is 5K in 5-10 years time, once u get GC you and ur wife can get better paid jobs and make up for it.
I guess most of the folks here are busy preparing to apply for 485. I have different problem here.
My employer's attorney is charging me outrageous fees of around $5000 to
apply for 485, AP and EAD for me and my spouse. This excludes USCIS fees. I work on hourly basis, so I should be taking care of immigration fees. My employer is not allowing me to file through another law firm.
Do I have any other options. How much do they charge usually.

This "me vs you" attitude is what is unhealthy. Having PD of June 2002 is nothing to be happy about, either for EB3-I or ROW. It is just pathetic. We should all be together in this. Asking for more visa numbers, recapture, etc would be more practical for us

Though I want to feel sorry for you I cannot. Between all the things you have written I was trying to find one small indication to know that you are sorry for what you have done. I did not find one. You are arrogant enough to blame the immigration laws for not permiting you to come to the US, but never really looked into your own flaws for flouting drug laws.
Besides, this is a forum for legal employment based immigrants. You may hardly find any resource here that will help you with what you want!

The government is telling my family I am not an adequate person to form a family with in the U.S. because I was deported with a drug-related offence of more than 30 grams of marijuana, yet it is granting the 212(d)(3) Waiver for Non-Immigrant Visas to Aliens deported with a drug-related offence of more than 30 grams of marijuana and who wish to travel to the U.S.. United States Citizens need an Immigrant Visas Waiver available to their Alien Immediate Relatives deported with a drug-related offence of more than 30 grams of Marijuana in order to even the scales on both U.S. citizen and Alien immigration privileges concerning Deported Aliens with a Drug-Related Offence of More than 30 Grams of Marijuana.
The way things are now U.S. citizens without a criminal conviction and with Alien Immediate Relatives are being discriminated against by their own government. The needs of deported Aliens with criminal convictions are being placed before their own.
It�s pure hypocrisy and it�s my family�s and my name being placed on the line.
I mean, really, how great can the U.S. be if it�s willing to lose their citizens to aliens like me when they decide to move outside of the United States to join their Immediate and shunned Alien Relatives? The U.S. government�s violation of my family�s civil human rights to liberty, freedom of expression and equality before the law is unwarranted. My U.S. family�s civil liberties to equal protection under the law, to due process and privacy are being discriminated against, they are not receiving fair treatment.
