please attend rally in DC
Dear members,
As we enter the final week of our rally preparation we would like to thank our members that have indicated that they would be coming for the rally. We also want to thank all state chapter and action item leaders for helping us out in this massive effort. This planning, coordination and implementation cannot happen without the help of each and every member. Help has ranged from phone call campaigns, publicity campaigns, media campaigns, lawmaker meetings, banner preparations, Merchandise set up, state chapter activities, Bus initiatives, Transportation and accommodation initiatives, sponsorships, reaching out to law offices and like minded organizations etc to tasks as important as deciding the Dinner menu for the Sept 17 event.
We still have a long way to go in our planning and implementation. IV membership is working hard to make this rally a success. The Sept 17th lobby day work is being implemented at this time and lawmaker office appointments are being sought. Everyone that has indicated their presence for this event will be contacted this week. We are planning a big reception event on September 17, from 6PM to 9PM at the Cannon Building in DC. IV members, lawmakers, staffers, industry leaders and other like minded organizations are expected to attend this event. It will be a great opportunity for IV members to meet these important representatives. There is also going to be a big Press event on Sept 18th that we are planning. There are several initiatives being taken to have a big media push for the rally. The rally is in itself a huge task that requires planning from getting all police permits (which we already have) to transporting rally material, providing registration opportunity for members, getting lawmakers to address the rally to details like stage and sound system.
All this has required IV to invest heavily. We already invest almost all in our lobbying efforts and remaining little in Website maintenance till now and somehow manage to run this organization on shoestring budgets. We need about 30 thousand dollars in the next 8 days to make sure we can meet our needs and also make a big impact via this rally. This rally will most certainly bring our issues to the national center stage and help us get much needed immigration relief.
This post urges everyone to come forward and help us in this short term funding drive. If you have not contributed till now, please consider contributing. If you have got your Receipt notice/FP notice/EAD etc. then do show your admiration for our combined effort via lobbying, San Jose rally and Flower campaign that enabled everyone to file their I485s. If you have recently received your green cards, then please consider contributing as a way of celebrating and endorsing our effort.

I am sure this is the right place to ask such questions but I could not find other thread to post my question.
When we file for I-485, what document do we need to attach to the I-485 form?
Do we need valid Passports?
In general a person who is in the US should have a valid and unexpired passport at all times. In addition, there is a whole loooooong list of documents that you attach to the I485- your attorney should advise you on this. The most important once for employment based immigration are documents showing legal status up until the I485 application and current offer letter from your company. There are many many more documents you need to provide...search the net for the necessary documents...

No change. But the sense of relief and freedom is good.

Woke up parents in India to share news. Did not get off work early. But went to a Thai Restaurant for dinner.
I shopped till I dropped the following Saturday. Felt guilty about spending too much and returned everything next Sunday :)

Quite a bit. It was always on back of the mind.Once bitten twice shy.Was

Believe me , GC related problem is better then any other problem. Count your blessing because the hurdle of your life at this pont is a freedom card called "GC". You all know that there are several BIGGER obstacles in life that each of us will have to face.
After your GC is done, another problem(big or small) will knock on your door.

i read on some lawyers website that everytime he/she's filed an AC21 letter to show change of jobs he's gotten an RFE for the petitioner.
so that is why many lawyers recommend against sending any notification to USCIS regarding job change using AC21.
Going back to the supplemental AC21 memo:
Imagine an IO who has a very bad mood for the day. Then he receives an AC21 letter for the case he is processing and saw that the i-140 of the person is not yet approved.
And he thought: "Oh....I would raise an RFE for this and see if the previous employer still respond to it".
Do you think this is a plausible scenario?

its a really good discussion, thanks to all people who have provided valuable information. I am a Consultant throughout my career and never lead a team but now planning to change gears and move into project management. When I goolged about the requirement to take the exam, Lot of PMP training institutes came up and they are charging about $2000 for training and they say its a 5 day course, guarantee to pass bhla bhla .... My first question is it required to take these training classes? if not how to become eligible for to take the exam, Please advice.
gcmaine. here is my answer to your question. I completed my PMP in 2008. Same like other folks here, thanks to USCIS, I have never been able to use it, since I am in eb3 and cant change job family. anyways here is my thought, in my opinion, this is just my opinion , keep in mind, those trainings are not at all necessary, if you have little bit of perseverance and time. Reason I am saying this is, with 2 kids, I was able to do this PMP certification myself, without any training. I took my own sweet time, spent 6 months studying in a library (2 hours every day on weekdays) and couple of hours in the weekends. I could pass this in one shot. And if I can do it, anyone can do it. All you need is perseverance and I am sure you will get through. PM me if you have any questions on how to prepare for the exam.

Talked to an io at neb sc.within 5 sec of me starting to talk the ffice interuppted and she apologosed for doing that and said because of huge vol of appli there is a delay in the receipt notice.i SAID I AM july 2 nd filer and she said it might be in the first week of aug..(i had said the same thing in my earlier post too after i spoke toa diff officer)..She asked to keep checking the check clearnace.

These kind of behaviors lead to bad customer service. Misuse it and then dont complain if USCIS disallows this service where we can call and talk to someone. Just get your act together and act maturely.

Actually, the numbersusa website makes mention of SA 2143 (John Cornyn) of HR 1585,(currently being debated) which according to them allows for recapture of unused EB visas from 1996 and 1997.
Dont know if it is true or not, they are encouraging their folks to lobby against it.

However, I have seen a few that have slid by the adjudicators. But the chances are very very slim and I have seen cases picked up later on if it was incorrectly approved ... but not always.
I'm certain you cannot do that. While applying for H1B Visa, you can use experience in lieu of education, but while Perm/I140, they consider only 1 degree. Either its Masters or its Bachelors...even both of them are not considered as aggregates.

My situation,
I am a july 2 filer, planning to use EAD to work in diifferent company in same profession(NOT invoking AC21). On I-485 approval want to come back to the original employer who filed I-485. my company is supporting and willing to support for any RFEs.
Please tell me if it is going to work and what are the risks involved.

If you join as a PM somewhere ...you need to be aware of things line earned value, risk register, critical path, management reserves, contract change control system, stages of team formation, types of Org..etc..etc..which is common terminology for PM's..so unless you want to join as a PM and blink you want to get certified..
Most manager jobs require this certification ...like you would go to a dentist to deal with problems with your teeth...not that a general physican cant do it..but a dentist specailises in teeth care..just like it PM is a separate proffession..I have seen MBA getting PMP ceritified..
For a Reason ..among all the certs ...this is the 1st or the 2nd most sought after..in the world..

I applied in NSC 485/EAD/AP on July 27th. The case was transfered to CSC. 485 Application was then transfered to TSC from CSC but EAD and AP are being processed in CSC.

WOW --Right from relationship between coutries tot he pros and cons of war planes we are discussing here.We have people with nice political knowledge per se Ministers and Kings who can analyze how just 11 billion (bully)dollar deal can affect the Green card processing and we have Generals and colonels who knows which fghter plane is good for which country.
But still we are able to manage only around 200 for the advocasy event and large amount of donataions which barely met the expenses. what a pity ;)

All,
With the current rate of outsourcing happening around in US and the rate of influx of temporary workers coming in on mostly L1 and may be few on H1 B Visas every year through the outsourcing companies , i am sceptical about the future of GC aspirants. With the way of GC processing happening which are caused by restrictions /policies of governing bodies and no sight of positive relief in near future i am little apprehensive about the future.
I feel that there might be no areas that are not impacted by Outsourcing boom . Most of the companies that i see and my friends work ,i see many of the operations are outsourced or planning in place to get outsourced.

so is it the notice date or recipt date that counts.. If someone filed on July 2nd, but the notice date is August 15, where do I coutn 180 days from.
Look at the notice and find "Received Date". That's the start date.
