It is very comprehensive list. It covers every field. Graduates of pharmacy, medicine, vet medicine etc are not PhDs. They have to go through special programs to get that degree.

However I am afraid you misunderstood pharmacy, medicine, vet med PhDS with practice professionals PharmD, MD,DVM.The people who made the list of STEM have ignored the fact that Research is highly interdisciplinary. This is unfair for many researchers in biology who should be in the STEM majors but they are not in just because of technical/clerical reasons. I request you all to take a look at this anomaly.

I landed in Canada in April 2005 so I have until April 2008. However if I decide to do this I may move by Jan 2008 latest ( probaly earlier - If you are from a warm state I would urge you never to move to Canada in winter because your life will be hell. Getting used to a new place is bad enough without the clold weather).
I would love to be an optimist but Im not certain my PD will be current in 1 yr. I think we all underestimate the 245 i angle. If however my PD does get current then this whole issue is null and void.

As long as your wife is getting paid by Canadian Payroll as a Canadian employee she should be fine. Even better if pay is in canadian dollars and being deposited in a canadian bank account. This should not be an issue.

Infact today is my 2nd day at my new job. I have decided not to inform USCIS. And I am in process of hiring a new lawyer , since my previous company paid for my GC , the company lawyer asked me to go with different lawyer for all my future needs.

Are H1 is Really in a speciality Occupation?
When we apply 1st time they are asking all the documents which is fine.
When we apply Extension they are asking all the details with Paystubs,client letter.
When we apply Transfer they are asking all the details with Paystubs.
1. Read this pdf. http://www.uscis.gov/files/article/E1eng.pdf This should answer your questions on H-1B
2. Documents are needed to demonstrate that offered job is of specialty occupation and the beneficiary meets job qualification. It also has checks for employer who is offering H-1B job.
3. Pay stubs are needed so as to prove that beneficiary is maintaining valid H-1B status when another H-1B petition is filed.
4. Client Letter is needed so that Employer (petitioner) can demonstrate that the proffered position qualifies as a specialty occupation, or that the petitioner has complied with the terms and conditions of the LCA.

We emphasized the following points
1. We are not talking about H1 increase.
2. Reverse Brain drain impacts.
3. Outsourcing economies gaining edge because of Americas poor legal immigration policies.
4. Delays in normal processing.
5. Impact of Backlogs on America competitiveness.
6. Impact of Backlogs on immigrations careers and their contribution to the industry.
7. Details of Presidents State of union Address for legal immigrants.
8. Statistical details which have shown immigration does not affect Americas growth but helps growth of America.
9. Requests of immigration voice.
We quoted our personal life experience and the hindrances we encounter in our career growth.
I have to say the points were observered with a positive note. and the staff said that these will be conveyed to the Senator.
He also suggested, to contact the media, which we are doing and also told,
he was also aware of immigration voice and its good doings.
He also told the Senator voted in favour of CIR 2006.
He suggested having a direct meeting with Senator would definetly help, as it would have a better impact, but he said that it would be easy to get an appointment of the Senator in DC. At this point, we have requested the immigration voice DC members whether they can have an meeting with the Senator and we can arrange the same with this staff member.
He also requested, if any of our member are meeting with the same Senator office staff in different location(Detroit, Grand Rapids,Escabana etc), please refer this staff name for continuity reasons.

I will be sending a Thank you letter soon to this Staff.
We are waiting on Appointment from the following office as we have already faxed the request for appointments, after our initial telephonic request.

3. Congress Man Tim Walberg - Michigan 7th District.
Actions Items.

The aim of participation on these talk shows is two fold- One to increase the awareness amongst the general masses regarding the problems being faced by legals as the masses are mostly ignorant about out situation. Secondly, for people who are waiting for their GC's and could be potentail members of Immigration Voice for them to join the organization. It has been proven time and again that there is strength in numbers and also the organization needs resources from it's members.
It is a logistical challange to put a program like this together with the host and the panel and IV did a good job at it with knowledgebile authorities like Stuart coming out strongly supporting our cause. Every one felt that the moderation could have been better. It is the skill of Larry King or Neil Conan of NPR that sets them apart but some times there are moderators who are very knowledgible, not necessarily on every issue but are challenged becuase of their heavy accent and other reasons.
One of the posts questioned about the publicity stunt of having a senator on the program. I am not sure if every one realizes the amount of ground work that has to be done to make that happen and must I say that all the efforts were made to get them but it did not work out finally in the end because of issues with timing.
Over all, in my opinion, it was a good program and served IV's agenda.
I would like to thank IV core team for the effort of making our immigration problems public. I could not personally listen to the show and it would be nice if someone posts a link to a recording.
In addition, I know that it may not sound feasible but I have an idea to create our own Internet radio. How you all think?

No response yet from WillIBLucky. Does any other member want to organize the call for this chapter? pls. go ahead. Members need to take active role in the state chapter and keep it alive. It is easy to give ideas and question others but is difficult to actually work for something. I urge chapter members to communicate with each other and organize a call.

I wanted to share with all you guys that last Friday I went to the local CBP office and got our I-94 extended till 2010 :)
phew...what a relief it is. The officer was very polite and accepted that it was the POE Officer's mistake and told me that he blew it up. He gave us a new I-94 and struck out the number and wrote the number that was in my old I-94. He also updated that info in the system.

I am not sure about AP weather it gets canceled or what but I think you did a wise thing cos even if your 485 gets rejected you loose ur EAD and AP but based on your approved I-140 you can keep on getting H1 extension for 3 years. So H1 is much safer than EAD.

The report wants all PhDs in science and technology with 1 year job experience to be allowed automatic AOS benefits (and not just for some future F4 graduates). Again, the report in general talks about all the sciences- specifically highlighting benefits of the life sciences in several pages- and not just the physical sciences. It is for this reason, and if we correctly reference our arguments, that their reasonableness will be obvious to any and every US lawmaker and his/her staff. Had we demanded these based just on our requirements or wishes, it would have had virtually zero chance of getting through. For exact references to the National Academies report, look up the attached letter in the thread linked above.
