reality is, a contraction of US growth of this magnitude was never anticipated...there is strong fear of deflation!
its a do or die situation for immigrants. regardless of the visa status EAD , H1, L1, B1...or Z1.. the only hope of us to get a temp fix which helps the housing/eb crisis..

no lawmaker is bothering to read this silly thread. Please stop dreaming. if you want to influence, go meet them! that remain's iv's official word on the matter too...see the meet the lawmaker campaign. and if you already have...you have my respect, you are too good in that case to waste your time complaining about this stuff.

What are you talking about? There are a limited number of green cards each year. The US wants the best of the best to get these green cards. Therefore, more preference is given to those with a higher degree or more experience. What's unjust or unfair about that? The trick is to look at things from the American perspective and not from the immigrant perspective.
And for the record, I am an EB3. well ..the problem is by the time EB3 - person gets his chance --he may become more qualified than a EB2 candidate ..esp in IT. for eg -- tell me who is more qualified.
say a person does MS (maybe from timbuktu) has 1-2 years experience (EB2) ..and there is another EB3 person with 4 year college - 3 yr experience when he applied in 2001 .(so now he has 10 yr experience and along the way he got certifications etc) ..so now who is more valuable ??
the problem is there are (some have been rectified) lot of loopholes, problems, inefficiencies (and I care rat's a__ attitude at USCIS) ..how else can you justify the wastage of visas every year ..when the US needs immigrants just as immigrants need US.
now since we cannot do much for the above ..people should have this attitude (esp EB3 - I) ..don't get stuck in a hole and at the back of mind ..be prepared that one day (maybe 10 years from now in u apply today) u may get a letter (485 denied or asking you for a paystub from the last century) i.e. be mobile (don't get stuck with immovable assets)

What state are you living??
I have been thinking for a long time to own a gun but due to my H-1B status could'nt own one. My I-140 was approved last year and now I am working on EAD.
I am wondering if anybody else in a similar situation purchased a gun; I mean after he/she started working using EAD. I tried to research the issue but the law is not clear on the subject.

She will continue on H4 status until she uses EAD (by filing I-9 with an employer when she starts working). At that point, her H4 is automatically invalid and she is then on EAD. Until then she can be on H4. Same rule applies to H1.
Thanks this is useful information. Also I am planning to continue in my H1 status as per company policy they allow EAD/AP only for spouse and not the employee. In future, will I be able to file EAD/AP for myself separately or does this need to be done with 485 filing? In future if I decide to file EAD/AP can I do this myself or would I need my employer for this?

OR
I would type the information related to the EAD which is of most use to you.
Also dont only listen to people on this forum.

My original "Reciept notice" of 485 came from "California service Center" then few weeks i got another notice of action notice type = "Transfer Notice" that said your application has been transfered to "Nebraska service center".
For EAD renewal should i send copy of just Receipt Notice or both?
Also should i send the EAD renewal app to "Texas Service Center" as per instructions because i live in MA ?

NK2006 thanks for the post my family and I recently entered US using AP and fortunately we were not questioned at POE. I am in similar situation waiting for 485 and filed AC21 when I changed jobs after six months.
That is not to say that we will not have problem in future. You mention your wife showed them a copy of rules pertaining to AC21. Can you post a link or post them here.
My lawyer never advised me to carry any such documents.

All I can say is that everyone has their personal reasons for the decisions they make. This thread is information exchange thread for those who are looking to move to Canada. This isn't about why one should go one place vs another.
I welcome you to start another thread where ppl can debate whether they should move to India or consider moving elsewhere. In fact, I will be happy to discuss the options there. But I request ppl to not divert the focus of this thread.

I140 at TSC is August 26th. Several others and I have their July apps pending. Gosh, this concurrent crap without current PD is playing havoc in several of our lives..
What a nightmare and sad state of affairs.
I am in the same state as you are. This just sucks. First I got stuck in the rotten BEC for years and then, this happens. USCIS should be sued for playing with our future.

I am EB2-I with PD of Aug 02, still waiting for approval of 485. July07 concurrent filer. 140 was approved in Sept08.
And this is the interesting part. The online status still shows 140 as pending. No email either, just a soft LUD on the online status. USCIS is being truly erratic. A maverick?
You should fill out a form with the Ombudsman. Just google for it. They should help you with your case.
Is your NC cleared? Have you taken an infopass to confirm your biometrics and NC is all clear? There have been cases where fingerprinting was done but it wasn't reflected in the case status.
