This is the correct process of EAD renewal.
- get the latest form always from http://www.uscis.gov/i-765
- never use google or any search engine
- since my first EAD was filed before the new changes implemented last year (i think july 2007), I had to pay $340. I think everyone has to pay $340 (Your case may be different, read the instructions properly)
This now will give me a 2 year EAD. and even after 2 years If I dont get a GC, I will be able to reapply for EAD, at that time WITHOUT any FEES!!
Bottom line is : Read the instructions properly.

India EB-2 moved by approx 6 months. China EB-2 did not move. Actually, EB-2 India has gone back to where it was before it became unavailable last year. Unfortunately, we may not see a lot of further movt in EB-2 India if all those labor numbers (cleared) are correct. But this is good news for those who applied for labor in late 2002, but their application was pending for a horrendous amount of time and just got cleared. They can get EADs.

-mass letter mailings from all of us

I've been hearing a lot of banter about the L1 Vs H1-B the fact remains both these categories are badly abused, it doesnt matter who is the bigger evil. I would tend to agree that L1 has a worse abuse rate however.
The issue however is that these so called "high skilled" visas arent high skilled anymore. If you closely look at the people coming in I would bet a majority of them who came during the dot com era didnt even have basic engineering degrees , and a huge majority of those coming in now have these degrees but from institutions which are completely crappy, the college plays a big role in framing who you are and yeah people can argue "there are bright students" in these colleges, but they are just plain minimal at best. So bottomline a majority of these are not highly skilled or talented people.
When the H1-B was conceived it was supposed to pave its way really skilled engineers with excellent credentials and it is not the case anymore, if you are going to tell me things like QA and Data Warehousing need mind boggling skills I think I can just have a good laugh at it. The local citizens are very much capable of executing on them. These jobs account for a huge majority of the software based jobs in the US, yes this is not the only category for H1-B jobs but software accounts for a big chunk.
I think of the H1-B visa as something analogous to getting into the best schools in India or the best schools out here, you cannot be crappy and get admitted to those schools, neither can you pay shit loads of money and get admitted, and this is what is happening. Consultants bringing in people from wherever charging them a huge sum of money filing for their H1-B and then looking out for a job for them, the only skill here is the consultants skill in finding the person a job :-). The new trend is the students with masters degrees from here getting placed in a job which is completely against what they specialised in, if a student after his/her masters doesnt find a job its either his badluck or he just wasnt good enough even after a masters and just isnt ineligible and these consultants have found a way to place the inept students as well which sucks at best. I do not agree with the notion of good consultants, every consultant abuses the employment based Visa system, and I am for a cap on L1-B visa's or a limit thats decided by the number of employees a firm employs in the US.
So unless USCIS see's a way of somehow screening out the best and the brightest and weed out these consultants so only the best and brightest are brought in, I can vouch that a majority of the American Technology companies (Cisco, Intel, Microsoft, Qualcomm etal) do not abuse the H1-B system neither do they undercut wages. In the end they fail to meet their hiring needs since the system is flooded with so may people who do not deserve to get in.

My PD is April 2002 which has become current as per the june bulletin. My I-140 was approved in April 2007 and the NVC created the case on May 15th 2007.
I have opted for consular proceesing.
My questions is at what stage of the further processing do i get a visa number allocated ?
Is it when NVC sends the fee receipt to my attorney or is it when the case is transferred to the consulate ?
I just want to know at what stage now i become insulated from any possible retrogression in the coming months.
Any help much appreciated

I recently applied (08/30) for advance parole as a new application (not renewal) at TSC, will I get a finger printing appointment from USCIS. The last update on my application was on 09/13 and no updates after that. I have travel in december I wanted to know how I can create an service request or Infopass? Thanks in advance.

It will be intersting to see how Indian Economy will flare, which is essantially driven by Outsourcing, which will take the greatest hit.
Remember Indian Economy's engine is outsourcing, once it starts to see the $ exchange pressure, forget about people coming to US, think of what will happen to standard of lving in Inida.
Can India still maintain the new glow with dollar coming down , I doubt as the Govt of India has not made any big steps to make permanent changes to infrastructure set up.
More Mc Donalds, Pizza Huts, Starbucks, Wal Marts will come up in addition to Coke and Pepsi and also mor eand more American companies will come there and pick up the money.

Trust me my friend, I have seen it happen all the time, from large Telecom firm to Govt., its always there, most of the consultants just doesn't come to know about it, but the cut for the managers is there in some form, almost always. Why do each manager has a specific vendor through whom they want to hire most of the time? What else is the reason for the client to pay the consulting company $180/hr but they won't give 'valueablehurdle' anything more than $50-60/hr?
On a different note, now that NSG approved the waiver, most desi uncles, some of them are also owners of desi consulting companies will claim that they are the father of Nuclear deal. These bastards (sorry for my french) always oppose any GC fix and they tell their favorite congressman/senator (each has atleast one favorite politician for whom they do fund raisers) that gc backlog is not an important issue for the community. India Abroad, Times of India, rediff and other desi portals/newspapers will write 'Oliver North' style stories about these desi uncles knowing well that companies like GE etc put their weight behind the deal as it will create commerce to commerce over $20 billion/yr. But desi uncles/orgs will not stop claiming to be the father of nuclear deal. The fact is, most of these desi uncles made noise not because they wanted to do something for their country of birth, they are doing it because they think that if the nuclear deal passes, they can play middle man for US companies to sell the technology/material to Indian companies/govt. Most of the so called 'united voice of Indian-Americans on the Hill' organization's goal is to make big bucks by playing 'middle man' for companies wanting to sell technology to India. And as always, just as 'valuablehurdle''s client (paying $180/hr) Indian govt. will pay double the cost. These desi companies have squeezed blood of people waiting for gc, but now they think its time to move on to play big game with the big boys. These desi uncles/orgs are going nuclear.... time for Rediff and India Abroad to play Oliver North. Sometimes the line between capitalism and cycle of corruption is extremely blur. The problem is, these desi uncles/orgs claim to be representatives of entire Indian-American community, sometimes the entire immigrant community. They don't know more than 100 people, but they claim to be the leaders of all 2.5 million indian americans. I'm not sure about the usefulness of this poll? If you look at the percentage of people applied on 2nd July, it is close to 70%. Assuming some error in the polling percentage, this poll indicates that atleast 50% of people have appplied already on 2nd July. As per the press reports, USCIS has received around 55000 applications on 18th July. That means another 55000 people only are going to apply by 17th Aug making a total of 110,000 plus minus 20,000. I do not believe this number and the poll. Any arguments here?
