Urgency of getting a receipt is that once you get the receipt, it means that USCIS has 'accepted' your application and it will not be rejected for lack of initial evidence.

Its probably part of an investigation of your employer. Maybe they finally decided that it wasn't necessary to interview you. But probably best to get back to that guy all the same; talk to ICE directly too.

One minor side effect is that India EB dates might further retrogress because still there a lot of folks with PD 2001,2002 etc pending namecheck clearance.
I thought the same but they need to get out of the queue before you and I can get our turn :) .. Good for them finally ...
In the longer run I guess it makes predicitions easy :)

Almost all holders of the CA have a 3 year BCom. We have had, as far as we know, 100% approvals showing the CA = US Masters with the proper documentation and a professor's expert opinion letter. Also with AMIETE.

Mine is a CSC to NSC xfer case. FP done in Jan'08 Received HLUD on 02/09 and SLUd on 02/10 for me and my family's 485s. Nothing after that.
HLUD was
Application Type: I485 , APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS
Current Status: This case is now pending at the office to which it was transferred.
The I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS was transferred and is now pending standard processing at a USCIS office.

All,
With the current rate of outsourcing happening around in US and the rate of influx of temporary workers coming in on mostly L1 and may be few on H1 B Visas every year through the outsourcing companies , i am sceptical about the future of GC aspirants. With the way of GC processing happening which are caused by restrictions /policies of governing bodies and no sight of positive relief in near future i am little apprehensive about the future.
I feel that there might be no areas that are not impacted by Outsourcing boom . Most of the companies that i see and my friends work ,i see many of the operations are outsourced or planning in place to get outsourced.
with the current rate of outsourcing and subprime mess which may cause slow down in economy , i am not sure if there would be any positions to support our AOS , when our PD becomes current. Some times i think , the fight for GC is even worth it.

1. Doesn't matter who it is citizen or not - you have to show legal status. If you read the law carefully, you will be put in a holding prision and given a change to prove legal status (contact family tobring your passport), etc. This is not a traffic stop - a decision will not be made on the stop. That's why there are strict rules stating who can be asked.
2. By law you have to carry identification. Does this mean as a citizen or non-immigrant visa holder, you have to roam with all your docs? No! This is why we fought so hard to make sure US-states give driver's licenses?ID cards to people here legally ONLY. So, you just carry your DL.

Thats about 27 credits to get a Masters degree.. insteresting. No wonder they will never pass this bill into law.
The assupmtion of 27 credits is wrong. You could take 4 - 5 courses a sem (about 12 -15hrs, the way undergrads do) and finish the MS from any good school that way in 3 sems if you are really into it.

I - 485 is your application. Employer has control of your application until I - 140. All you need from employer is employment verification letter.
If you have a good lawyer, then you can do it together. Take legal advice. This is just my opinion.

This is not the case for me....but during a discussion with my attorney and other friends contacts they said if you do not attach the medicals now you may get RFE at a later stage...which you can resolve it.
I bet any RFE can be articulated with reason by attorney if they are smart enough.
This is something I heard...but do not hold me on that. Please check with your attorney too and make a decesion.

I got my I-140 Approved in 2007 and I-485 applied in July Fiasco. working for same employer who filed labor in PERM. Recently got letter from DHS stating that I485 denied as it was filed when dates are not current.
In july 2007, USCISreleased memo stating that they will accept all applications till August 17' 2007. Mine was reached on Aug 14'2007 well before deadline. Got I485 reciept in october 2007.

They sent Denial letter to Attorney stating that I485 application was filed when dates are not current

This is my first post. I worked my ass off to get a favorable
solution for retrogression during the budget bill. But as everyone knows it was defeated in the house reconcilation. I'm not being pessimistic but my gut feeling is that eventhough senate comes with something, the chances are slim that the house would agree to it. Sensenbrenners bill which house passed has no provisions for EB immigrants and backlogs. I'm pretty sure all of you are aware of Mr. Tancredo's fury against immigrants too.
Having said that I dont mean we have no way out. We have to work very very hard. We have to raise money and do some hard lobbying. But above all we have to get our employers to back this issue. With all of the above reasons I think it might be a very bad idea to guess we would have any favorable legislation in a shorter span of time. So we have to plan something for a longer period of time and execute it very diligantly, I guess.
I think Immigrationvoice is on the right path... Lets face it people!!!

EB immigrants are not a hot political issue with the House, when the illegals are. Nowhere do the house representatives, except Tancredo and the likes, voiced their opposition to expanding EB immigration and providing some sort of relief for people caught in the backlog. I believe that the immigration provisions were dropped from S.1932 just because it was a wrong bill. The pork got chopped off and this pork was too easy to compromise as there were much more important issues to fight for, like drilling in Alaska and Medicare. This bill IS about immigration issues and is about border security issues as well. The fact that Frist's bill drops the very controversial guest worker program can be considered as both a good and a bad thing. It is good since the bill will sail more smoothly through the Senate and hopefully the conference. On the other hand it is bad since Senate representatives in the conference now will not have this guest worker program to trade and drop when House reps will demand to drop something off the bill. To my understanding the way the conferences work, they need to meet somewhere in the middle in between the versions of the bill and since we have the very minimalistic bill passed by the House it is the Senate which will need to compromise and drop provisions from its bill.
But taking the guest worker program off the bill is a good start I guess.

I have several friends who were waiting for GC desparately and they thought it was the final destination. They had many reasons why to get GC and once they get, they will be free and can do / will do everything possible. But, once they got it, they settled in a permanent job. Without GC, they were working for the same client with even more pay and life was good if not better.
I was thinking the same way; because I am no different.
Oflate, I realised, I am un-necessarily worried about something which is not in my control. I realised that I am well paid, with this pay even the benefits I am not getting are compensated. Why am I worried? Should I be after GC in order to get peace of mind? I started looking it little differently. I am in this country to earn more money and live comfortably. I am already enjoying what I wanted. Then, why am I worried still? May be it is in human nature to always look for something which is not in the hands.
I still need GC for other things like Children education and get some other benefits (our education / starting business etc). I agree, but there is lot of time for that in my case. There are several people who are in the same state as me if not all. Everyone's needs are different.
I thought I will just share my ideas so that atleast some of the people will be happier.
