With dates current (even if they are for a few months), I wand this CIR to just go away. I would rather take my chances with the old process, then face something that is highly likely to be detrimental to us.
Come to think of it...If I (most of us) have our EAD's (spouse can work, job is portable)...would I really mind waiting to get my GC for 5 years...

The Swiss do not break down the source of the Indian money and it could all be EU accounts of Indian companies that have operations in Europe. We just do not know. As Switzerland has the lowest tax in Europe, a lot of companies with operations in Europe have accounts there.
If India had sensible policies it could generate Trillions of $s and this 1.4T would not matter.
I am trying to start a Pvt Ltd in India and it takes about 40 days and $3000 to get started. In MA, it takes a few hours and less money despite the much higher lawyer fees here. No wonder the country is poor. It is not the corrupt people but the honest (but incompetent) people who do more damage by slowing the pace of business.
The path to hell is paved with good intentions.

Just two things:
1. Make up your mind about your last name and stick with it. Jumping last names can create trouble for you in future. I work for a bank and two different last names mean different people, your credit report will also be messed up so in the long run you will have a lot of pain.
2. Since your first name has three names, and I am guessing out of those two one would be your town and other you father name or something like that, it would be hlepful for you to convert them to single letter and just keep your given name as full name. Most of the systems in US cannon handle three first names and you will face this trouble again and again even if you get it figured out in the visa.
For your current problem just state that your new 797 is approved with a wrong last name, and talk to a lawyer. If he asks show him your new passport and explain the reason for the last name change.
DMV story will create unnecessary confusion so skip it.

Guys, If we try something its not gonna hurt us. If we don't try we may have lost an opportunity. The least that this dude can do for us is listen and then we can follow up.
I insist, again, lets talk abt soc. sec treaty. With thousands of us having together millions in that account, the US gov. will have to do something. Remember-its our money- the US govt. cannot deny it if asked by The Indian govt. IF they wanna keep it, better give us our GCs!

Could someone live in the US on a H4 visa and work remotely for a canadian company, travel back and forth for business, all the while maintaining the H4 in the US? Of course the work in Canada would be based on a temporaray work status in Canada. What legal hassles would this create if any? Any comments. This may be a useful scenario for spouses stuck on H4 due to retrogression (no EAD, finished 6 years on H status). Anyone care to comment?

Yes, Many just browse and forget it. If they have a question, they will register and post into the forum. To post a response/question you have to be registered. Those people are taken care of and are members. How ever, its those bunch of people who dont have a specific issue at this time and are just watching over. I feel that any given time 60-70 % of the guest are just watchers (I mean not anti-immi, reporters etc ). If we can entice half of them that gets us going a lot. Registered members will any way login as soon as they are on the website and will not be bothered by popups. The pop up should come only once per session.

I am in the same Boat. My PD is May 26 2004. Mine and my wife's case was transffered to Des Moines Iowa on March 19th 2008 and says its for additional processing. I applied for EAD renewal on June 11th and no approvals yet. I called uscis and they say that my ead would not be approved until the additional processing on my 485 is completed.. I am guessing it would be an interview.
Not necessarily in the same boat, although in the same pond.. :) In your case if the email says 'additional"processing and clearly indicates the DEs Moines office then it might very well be for an interview. In the case of ABH though all it says is that it was transferred to a USCIS office for "standard" processing, which could be as simple as USCIS mailing the packets from CSC to NSC.

You have to stick to Software Engineer field in order to take advantage of PD recapture. If you move to Business Development using MBA than its hard to justify same or similar. Find a new job which requires EB2 and show BS+5 to qualify.

Any reason why we are all waiting for the August bulletin??? We alrerady know that the visa numbers aren't available for this year...and its also been mentioned by IV that the breaking news that everyonez expecting isnt about the visa bulletin....I am confused...could somebody throw light on this pls..why the wait?? :confused:

Can you please share your experiences with renewal of Indian passport in US. They are asking for 3.5cm x 3.5cm photos which are not same as the regular passport size photos. The CGI Houston website mentions passport size photos as requirement in some places and 3.5cm X 3.5 cm photos in some other places. Can you please share on what you did for the photos? thanks a lot.

I received receipt nos. from CSC. Later i received EAD also. Today i received mail from USCIS stating that my case is transferred to Nebraska. :(

Does anyone kn ow if the 485 receipt is required tog et FP notice?
Also, my 485 receipt has a receipt date of august 28, but I am a july 2nd filer..does anyone else here have the same situation?

Going to Initial Review after approval is scary but normal when you get done FP after approval. I think if you have the I-797 approval then there is nothing to worry about. If you follow a thread in tracki*t you will know that couple of people also got similar status change after FP.

I wonder why your lawyer is asking you to change the number of years. your hiring manager should be the one comming up with Job Description and Justification. May be he already has one and all you need to do is send it over to your lawyer
It's always not the case. My boss sent the request from the atterney about job requirement to me, saying you two work it out. I had to work out requirement that is acturally in favor of me, but not obvious to others. And why are those requirements too. Those requirements are the key. If you didn't get them right, and lots of people applied for the postion, you are in trouble. My HR mageger told me she hates the interviews and making records of them.
Here we have the atterneys who know the law but in most of the case not much or even nothing about the specific job involved. And in the other side the boss who knows the job, but not how to play trick. To work this out, it will involve intense and lengthy back and forth between them. No boss would like that. So you always find yourself doing this.

I have following in my receipt notice if I-765 receipt "Class requested : C09"
what does C09 means and is it correct type?
Also in my I-485 receipt after amount it says " Section : UNKNOWN" and priority date box is NULL.
Should I worry about theses?
