My friend is changed it's law firm for 485/EAD/AP and filed last week without any problem. His employer don't have objection to change because he was paying not employer.
He paid 1500 as fee(1000 self + 500 spouse). If you need info please PM me.
I guess most of the folks here are busy preparing to apply for 485. I have different problem here.
My employer's attorney is charging me outrageous fees of around $5000 to
apply for 485, AP and EAD for me and my spouse. This excludes USCIS fees. I work on hourly basis, so I should be taking care of immigration fees. My employer is not allowing me to file through another law firm.
Do I have any other options. How much do they charge usually.

I've sent in slightly modified letters(personalised) from myself and separately from my wife to both the Whitehouse and to IV.
I found the best way to modify the well written template is to just put a small personal introduction at the top. Who you are, what you do and perhaps that you are waiting patiently for X years.
If you have renewed your EAD multiple times, it might be worth mentioning that as well.

Lawsuite may not work in all occasions. If visa's are not available how can USCIS approve a petition? The law say a VISA should be available in order to approve a GC.

The problem is us, yes "us". Most of us come to check whats on the website and then make sure we stay abreast with it. No one wants to work etc mile except making stupid phone calls and sending faxes.

All the people who got EAD's act as if " I don't care now, I got EAD " I have spoken to few Indians and this has been their response.All these suckers are good for what? You all got EAD, congrats you sit on your bud and wait for years. We all have seen how the bulletin is working.
Illegals are better than us at least they are united and they are actively involved.
We need the IV core team and the administrator to guide some big rally's. Guys nothing will happen until we are bold about our intentions.
I noticed everyone comes up with their different ideas, but no one works to implement it. We need to stand together and do something big, when was the last time we had a big rally?
And how many people actually showed up? Desi's wants everything fast and free.

Yes 2007 was a milestone for a few people, but a disaster for people like us, who had PD in 07, had July fiasco not happened we could have seen some positive movement, rather being put on a swing ------------------ go front----------------------- go back.
So all the junior and new members until you guys quantitatively plan something big and real, nothing will happen. We all have our own problems, life in America is not simple, but in order for us to accomplish something we all need to unite and do something big, the problem is lately IV thinks too much and has less of ACTION
All new members need to take a more active role in order to succeed and continue this effort for a long time for future immigrants.
I do not think having an EAD is a cause of inaction. It is more about having confidence in the effort that their effort will truly help them and everyone else like them. They can get confidence only when they get involved and get in the thick of things and see for themselves how things work. I have heard people calling USCIS every other day finding their status if they just get an LUD. People take infopass just to find out their name check status. So why can't these people make calls to lawmakers and take an appointment to meet their lawmakers.
Until some time back people were by and large afraid to even write to lawmaker offices. But when their case was stuck in namechecks, they wrote to everyone including WH. So why cant we write letters during an action item? We need to think like a community and not as an individual in need of a greencard. An individual cannot achieve anything alone but a voice of thousands can do a lot.
We should feel happy that there is an immigration voice that is a voice of this community. It is not a lawyer forum created for a lawyer's publicity or a forum managed by any business interest to make profit off this community. The aim here is to get people relief from their immigration problems and IV resources are utilized for the community. People need to adopt IV as their place to go for all immigration related discussions and data from IV tracker and visit this site more often and try to get involved. Remember that just by visiting this site frequently, you are helping this effort in some ways.
Until IV was there, people were scared to post freely about employers, lawyers, USCIS, lawmakers etc. People were not willing to come out in the open with their real names for some unknown fear. But when Immigration voice came, everyone starting gaining confidence and did not have any fear. You can see that from the kind of posts we see these days on the forums. this approach is better known as "attitude of positive expectancy" hoping that things will work out well in the future. It is difficult in this negative world to have this kind of thinking, however if you do, it will get you through your life without losing precious moments of your youth worrying about the future.
all the great leaders and visionaries of the past and present have this attitude as the way of life. something to think about in the midst of darkness surrounding the GC limbo...
I started looking for a house soon after filing for my 485/EAD/AP in August 2007. I finally got a great deal (good price and low fixed mortgage interest rates) on a 14 year home in St Louis and then had to decide whether to wait for the EAD approval before buying the home. I decided to go ahead and buy the home.
My EAD was approved sometime back and looking at the turn of events leading up to buying the house, I realized that there is always an element of risk in committing to long-term investment without a GC. However I am sick and tired of the slow GC process and cannot keep postponing important decisions in life. We need to take risks at some point. I know with a March 2005 EB2 priority date, my dream of getting a GC is still many years away. But postponing important lifestyle decisions for later is too much of a price to pay.

Backlog guys hate Perm filers as they went ahead of line... This is not true. How come PERM filers can go ahead in line.

Guys.. i'm sick of this nonsense.. I mean this is ridiculous.. this is my second go around in this stupid lottery.. last year I hadn't graduated so they put me in the bachelors quota.. this year the freaking masters quota is full.. i have a genuine offer from one of the big 4 accounting firms.. and have work experience to back it up
i'm sick of these consultant firms.. i wish I could work for the uscis and weed out these miserable cheapsters.. 6 years toiling in their education system, paying the damn taxes, and waiting for 1 smart person to come along and tell them its time to take care of these consultant companies and their consultants who get the jobs based on deceit and conmanship..
simple non sense.. random selection .. my behind..
I really feel like sending flowers to the uscis similar to what the indian folks did last year..
i'm sick of these consultant firms.. i wish I could work for the uscis and weed out these miserable cheapsters.. 6 years toiling in their education system, paying the damn taxes, and waiting for 1 smart person to come along and tell them its time to take care of these consultant companies and their consultants who get the jobs based on deceit and conmanship..

You guys are doing a great job of higlighting our plight. I have also donated 100$. You guys should probably start a seperate thread for fund raising.
Anyways coming back to creating awarness. I thought somone should create a podcast something like the ones we hear on NPR. The other might take longer and that is to send a documentry to Google current. It a tv station that just airs user created content.
