Hello All,
just wanted to share my Finger Printing Experience.
I am july 2nd filer, EB2.
NSC -CSC - NSC case.
Got my FP done today,
however I noticed that on my ASC notice, my SSN has been printed incorrectly.
I called USCIS and made the correction.
I was surprised & furious at the same time, by seeing this mistake from USCIS.
Their system is so bad, they are not even verifying the Name to the corresponding SSN. Had I missed to notice, I would have been stuck either at FBI name check or by a querry from USCIS later for a long long time.
Already the wait is long enough.
Anyways, dont relax just seeing your EADs and APs, watch every detail on whatever they send.
Regards

looks good dan, even for 30min. I love the colors too, and the angle you chose is nice. I don't think you did something poor at all. ;)

Sbind,
I am also in the same situation, My (including my wife) I-485 case was approved on 8/5, my wife received physical card 2 weeks after and I received a FP notice (Code 2) and i gave my biometrics on 9/29 and my I-485 status changed from Approved to Initial Review on the same day. Its scared me and i immediately called USCIS to know whats happenning and have created an SR...so far no response yet. I have my approval notice, as you suggested i will take an INFO pass and get it stamped on my passport.
Please update your case in this thread.
Thank you

I got my FP done on 10/05. My 485 status changed from Approved to Initial Review on that day. I believe it's auto status change. I have my approval notice and Permanent Resident stamp on my passport. I booked infopass appointment on 11/01 to know inquire about this change.

JunRN...if u see the first post in this thread, USCIS has clarified their estimate of 485 apps.
they say they received 320k I485 applications plus 400k+ ead+ap apps.
so by using the 1 primary applicant = 2.5 total applicants per family
320,000/2.5 = 128000 unique Labor certifications/ primary applicants.

Hello Krishnam
Since your GC is for future employment, your current employer might not be able to support you on H1 but you can always get them to support you for future employment and so they can still not revoke your 140 petition process. So if possible be on good terms with them and ask them to keep your 140 process intact
I have a I-485 pending, and there is a chance I may be laid off after 180 days. Would I have to have another similar job offer at hand, or can I still continue looking for a job after 180 days of I-485 till I find one ?
Thank you for your help.
1. What is your current status? H1/EAD? 140 approved/in process
a) If 140 is approved and you filed 485 and its been 180 days and if you meanwhile have an EAD in hand,
a1) then you can move to a new employer using the EAD or
a2) transfer H1 and have no problems with GC process.
If USCIS asks you then you say you are using AC21. At that time since your 140 is approved/contains all required initial evidence USCIS will not ask anything more. If they do however ask then your new company will need to provide all the required information again.
Required initial evidence, as specified under 8 CFR 204.5(g)(2), includes copies of: (1) annual reports, (2) federal tax returns, or (3) audited financial statements. The petitioner must submit a copy of at least one of these required documents
There is big thread on this forum somewhere about Initial evidence. Search should reveal it
b)If 140 is pending and you filed 485 and its been 180 days but you dont have an EAD, if 140 petition is not withdrawn then you can find an employer to support your H1 ( assuming you are on H1. Not sure abt L1 case)

Hi Pankaj,
You sang the National Anthem very well. I have been here in US for about 5 years now and for the first time; I felt that I was part of America and this could be my country. I felt goose bumps when I heard you sing the Anthem.
Thank You. And yes, you did sing it from your heart and only then can it have such a magical effect on everyone who was listening.
Thanks,
Thescadaman

From Murthy.com
" AC21 portability is generally available to an individual who is the beneficiary of an approved I-140 and whose I-485 has been pending at least 180 days. The benefits of AC21 portability are available to any otherwise qualified individual, even if there is not an available visa number for his/her case."
if the PD becomes current and someone files the 485 and then retrogresses, they are the ones that can use this
"As long as the person had previously filed the I-485 when the priority dates were current and that I-485 remains pending, one does not need to have a current priority date in order to change jobs under AC21"
from the link http://www.murthy.com/news/n_porret.html
We are talking two different things here. You are saying about AC-21. The OP is asking about retaining PD. The way you can retain your PD after I-140 approval is :-
You file a new labor with the new employer - once it is approved - you need to file a new I-140 application and attach the old approved application with it - this would ensure that your PD will become the PD from the old case.
Difference with AC21 is - in the case of AC21, you just switch jobs and your current GC process continues - you do not have to file a new labor,140 etc.

I have filed through lawyer on 4/23 and my ead expiring on 7/23. After one week of filing I have receiving receipt notice saying we received your application and if biometrics required we will let you know in separate mail but so far I have received any update neither change like LUD.
I have done my biometrics in 9/2009 and I am not sure if I need to do it again for ead renewal.
I have my lawyer contacted CIS and CIS said it may not required biometrics but she was not 100% sure and said she will put a follow up request on my file.
I am not sure what to do? my driver license gets expired with my EAD and will lots of pain if I don't get it on-time?
IV any help or suggestions to come across with this problem?
Matt

I would say Canada because British Columbia has a much higher standard of living than Boston. Canada is generally a much better place for raising kids and the stress levels are lower because of freebies like health care etc. BC also has a much better weather compared to Boston.
The other reason is that you could always come to the USA from Canada later but if you lose the Canadian PR now and don't manage to get a green card in the US, you lose everything.
Hi All,
I would really appreciate everyone's honest opinions on this matter.
We filed 140 and 485 concurrently in July 2007, EB3. As of now there is no word on either application. Previously we had also obtained Canadian PR, the 3 year grace period of which will expire this August.
Not only am I faced with a decision of staying in the US or going to Canada, but my future career is on the line too. This year I will be 23. After taking my undergrad degree in electrical engineering, I have been accepted into Boston University Law School in the US as well as the University of British Columbia Faculty of Law in Canada. Canadian lawyers make around half as much as American ones after all factors are considered.
In your opinion, should I stay in the US, going to law school, in hopes that the green card will come through, or should I pursue a new life in Canada, but take the lower future salary / international renown?
This issue is currently causing much discord in my family. I hope to hear your frank opinion so that I won't take my decision lightly.
Many Thanks! :)

About the process control (one of my fav. subjects :p)
But seriously folks, let us not waste energy on this thread. There are tasks at hand which more need our attention.
It i svery hard to make predictions because of the possible distortion in the trend due to the new NC>180 day rule.
If you know Process Control, we need to wait for it to settle down for at least 2 more months (by June) before the trend starts to normalize.

I wonder the reasons for Switzerland to be #1. Its a small country with minimal immigration and not much resources. Key revenue might be from Tourism. They are not known for scientific work etc.
... Maybe swiss bank accounts are key to it ! ;)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Swiss_companies
actually they do a lot more than tourism........

Hi Guys,
My LCA has Computer Software Engineer as job title.I have 5 years of Experience as Oracle functional consultant.Currently I'm working as Oracle consultant. My 140 is approved and got my EAD card.In jan 2008 it will be 180 days of filing 485.I want to change my career towards IT Sales.
I have an offer from an American Staffing company as a Technical Recruiter. The job responsibilities include hiring Software Engineers. But the job title is different from my LCA.I want to join this company using EAD in jan 2008 and apply AC 21.Today I have checked with my Lawyer this is what she says"
In instances such as this, when we send the letter to the USCIS regarding AC21, we include the following details with reference to the job title. Although the job title differs, the job duties are substantially the same. The title used by the company is their internal designation for this position."
She says that i will be able to work as Technical Recruiter using EAD.Any one can suggest me on this?I have very little knowledge about AC 21 and how it works
Thanks in advance

look up O*NET codes yourself:

A recruiter would perhaps be: 13-1071.01 or 13-1071.02
with titles of:
Employment Representative, Employment Service Specialist, Personnel Coordinator, Staffing Coordinator, Workforce Development Officer
Human Resources Director (HR Director), Corporate Recruiter, Human Resources Representative (HR Representative), Human Resources Specialist (HR Specialist), Personnel Officer, Search Consultant
View report: Summary
What is your O*NET code from your LCA?
If its software engineer: 15-1031.00 or 15-1032.00 then this move is potentially risky.

The name check takes 2 years anyway, making a mockery of fast processing times. Even VSC, which is the slowest, takes less than 2 yrs for 485.
Wait a minute; I thought the name check is part of the I485 approval (and for those who file I-140 and I-485 concurrently, part of the I-140 approval). It wouldn't make any sense if the I-485 is approved and they are still checking the identity.
Also, the thread has been quiet due to lack of hope regarding the speed of processing centers (Wata, I am with you on the Nebraska one) and the unreliability of promises for improvements.

At what stage of GC, you are not dependent on Lawyer any more>?
What if your I-485 has been filed, and everything is normal with your case. Do you still need your Lawyer till you get ur GC or now you can fire him right after filing 485?
I am not happy with my Lawyer and want to get rid of him ASAP.
