Dont a CAN PR Card holder need to live in CA for 3/4 yrs before he gets to file for Citizenship? If you live in CAN for 3/4 yrs and have citizenship, you have basically no problems living in CAN. (not with the weather, only economic hardships). Now, I dont know whether people can get away with citizenship some how without living in CAN. If the GC mess is same here, why would you want to come back here on TN visa and live an uncertain life or with a plan B that takes you back to CAN incase of any discrepancy.

I feel that this will be an excellent idea. Atleast some people will be eliminated from the queue. I believe there are lot of people waiting for their GC to buy a home. It will also benefit them.

You are right on the point. In fact (I may be overly optimistic here), I would not be surprised at all to see PD of EB2I in 2007 or 2008 in the last quarter (Aug-Sept) and it may even see the magincal "C" in Sept 2010. (Making the dream come true for VDLRAO!!)
(Remember, with preadjudications, there are no more pending EB2-ROW (except for the new adjudications) and EB2 China has been in 2006 for quite some time as well in the past)

Question to everyone criticizing consulting companies
If you have a choice to have a EB3 2001 PD/EB2 2003 PD substitute labor from a consulting company, what will you do?
Will you not want to contact them and file your greencard through them?
So stop this bullshit about criticizing consulting companies. There are real human beings working in this those companies. Just because you do not work in consulting companies does not give you any right to post negative about them.

Talking about diversity, those not familiar should take a look at an Indian currency note.
Maybe someone can scan and post one, I don't have any Indian note with me. You will see around 20+ languages on it. You can tell its different languages because they use different script unlike say German and French (except for the accents/umlaut). Actually the number of languages are much more than shown on the notes. For whatever reason AFAIK only languages with distinct script are classified as languages in India, others are called dialects. These dialects are actually languages because they are not dialects of anything (For example in this definition, lot of European languages will be classified as a single language because they use Latin script).
The point is unlike what outsider might think there is as much if not more cultural, ethnic, linguistic differences between a Gujarati and a Tamil Indian as between a German and a Portuguese European.

Well we are Indian citizens so we would have to carry passport anyway. What you mention is only a concern for Canadian nationals and that too they dont need visa. They only need passport for ID instead of DL.

If you are inviting high skilled workers you better make sure you have the laws to protect your businesses (employers) and the workers (us) in a fair and balanced manner. The conditions should not be such that either one can exploit the other. But currently we are almost used as slaves due to loopholes in the law and ineffeciencies in the immgration agency which allow the employer to exploit the high skilled immigrants.

I did clarify this with a Fragomen attorney and as per them though dates could technically be moved back in the middle of the month, this most likely may not happen in July and also maybe August since this depends on the number of approvals and not on the number of applications received. Even if there are tons of applications received, unless there are enough approvals happening simultaneously, dates would not retrogress in the middle of the month.
Ok, if the Fragomen page is the source of this rumor: can someone who is a Fragomen client ask their attorney about what's going on here. That might help clarify things a bit. (Given that they are the largest immigration law firm, there's bound to be many IV members for whom Fragomen is preparing documents.)

Sorry for the clich� "United we stand divided we fall". Let us be careful and have meaningful dialogue especially when we take up contentious issues that might pit one member against another. IV stands for improving EB based immigration for all irrespective of the country of birth. Please note that there are several outside folks vying to split the group and we do not need to do it internally. I feel that this discussion has come up at misopportune time. Just recall the same kind of discussion that came from folks that had missed the July fiasco last year.
Let us not forget our "primary" goals and harp on minor irritants.

You have hit the nail right on the head. They issued 225000 H1b's between the years and 2000 and 2002 but the GC quota remained the same. Also, there is no quota for H1 (large # goes to India/Chine) but there is a quota for GC.
The idea is they want to control it so that only a third of the ppl who come on H1 end up getting a GC. They make the GC process hard one way or the other. Either you get stuck in the labor queue or in the retrogression queue. The average time to get has always been 4 years. Some ppl get lucky and get it in less than 3 and some get unluck and spend over 5 years trying to get it!
Ultimately the question for everyone is how long are you willing to put your life on hold? If you wait long enough you will get it. They seldom reject cases (unless it was a fraudulent case).
Here are my thoughts not legal advise:

3) Come to USA via Company B on TN visa and tell your

The purpose was to jump start and find somebody who is willing to help himself/herself. If there is no such person out of 100+ who voted "yes", there is no point in further discussion. I have enough on my plate (I am still helping a number of people fighting in district an appellate courts). Also I think it's easier to discuss it via yahoo group.

I filed my EB2 NIW in 2007, I 140 approved. Can change employer and move to another state, will it bring any RFE in future for 485 approval.
If I change my field chemistry to biochemistry how is it going to affect my NIW petition.

I agree, the notion of fix our problem so that we housing problem is not a good approach.
Our situation is grave enough that it needs a focus on its own. Our efforts should be to bring this on fore front of the issues being discussed in congress and in public media.
While it is a good idea to educate the congress regarding the impact the EB Green Card applicants could have on the Housing Market. It is a terrible idea to propose a legislation which would offer GCs to applicants who would purchases houses in US. To put it bluntly, the legislation seems to be meant for selling GCs to applicants who are in a position to afford it, offering GC to applicants who will invest in housing market is akin to giving out GCs for cash and there is already a category for that. How would one factor in the CP applicants like nurses and PT who are waiting in their home countries?
The idea should be modified to spread the message regarding the positive impact that the EB GC applicants could have on the housing market and not to create a niche category of EB applicants who can purchase their GC to scoot ahead of other less fortunate ones. This proposal should be nipped in the bud before some anti immigrant group or advocate like Lou gets wind of it.
