These are stupid quotes that will only make the situation worse. The real solution is to make the fingerprinting independent of the green card process. There is no point in trying to push for a faster name check in the post 9-11 world, it will be shot down legitimately. We need to make sensible suggestions not demands.
YOU COMPLETELY MISSED THE POINT!!!

According to the report Mexico EB3 has 2240 pending cases till the end of 2001
and India EB3 has 1630 pending cases till the end of 2001
Then according to current visa bulletin why does PD for India way behind Mexico???
and even China is behind Mexico when they have only 108 pending cases till end of 2001.
Something is wrong with the numbers or they mean something else??

I have a question regarding the I-693 Medical exam. it was mentioned that you will need to take a vaccine for MMR, Varicella, Tetanus and Hapatitis B. it was also mentioned that they will do a tb test and a blood test for HIV and syphilis. are these all the vaccinations and blood tests required or are there aother blood test required in addition to these??
please advise. Thanks
Below are the list that I have from my lawyer to prepare my I-485 :
1. for Evidence of status you need a Copy of Last Entry I-94
non immigrant arrival/departure record, showing your admission
to the US and current status. (Front and back, make sure the date is
clear to see)
2. To show that you are always in status while you are in US you will need
Copies of all immigration related documents from USCIS
(such as I-20, OPT, H1B, H4 approval notice, or other status)
3. Copy of Birth Certificate
(need translate & notarize if not in English)
4. Copy of Marriage Certificate if you are married
(need translate & notarize if not in English)
5. Copy of Passport pages with non immigrant visa
(including all passports you have used since the last entry you need to
copy all the stamp you had on the passport. Again this is to show the
last time your in you US and to make sure you are always in status)
6. I-693 (Medical Exam)
(You can dial 1-800-375-5283 to choose the physician list)
you will required to show a proof that you have take MMR, Varicella, Tetanus and hepatitis B
if you can't show any proof they will required you to take it on their office and it will cause you quite a lot money ( you can take
the vaccine earlier on your family/ regular dr. office and could get covered by you insurance) it could save you $300 per person.
the mandatory test you have to take at their office is tb test, blood test
for HIV and syphilis and regular phisical test. once you have all vaccine
and the mandatory test they should gave you the seal envelope to send to USCIS along with your other document and they will give you a copy as well.
7. If you apply for your family member you will need
I-134 (Affidavit of Support) stamp by Notary for each family member
8. Employment Verification Letter
Employement letter on the letter head of the petitioning employer
which confirms that the job on which visa petition is based is still
available to you. The letter must also state the salary that will be paid.
9 . Photos (2*2 color front-view passport photos)
*2 for each I-485, additional 2 for each I-131,
additional 2 for each I-765
10 Fee Payment made to USCIS (1 per applicant)
$325 for each I-485 filing fee
$70 for each Fingerprint fee
$170 for each I-131 filing fee (if apply for Advance Parole)
$180 for each I-765 filing fee (if apply for Employment Authorization) .
Hope this list is help for those who is ready preparing their document.
please advise. Thanks

Sri,
It is already there in change.gov. I have created long back in January and there were 470 votesup for that idea. I think now that will be in the President's desk. Only thing now we have to do is accelerate this so that it again reaches the Congress.
Sarala,
Not a good answer( but I reallly appreciate your frankness and I know you do speak for most of us here) and I have been doing exactly like this before 3 months. We must keep writing again and again and again. And make as many as we know also do it. It was when someone in this forum told me that I realized this and now I do it every week on change.gov. I write every week.
Obama will not come to you or me and tell us "Nice letter Sri, I read it and am acting on it". He gets 1000s of these everyday and in this economy and everyone wants to write to him., well except us who seems to have some comfort zone. we dont realize till its too late, and when it is, we create a new thread called " I got a pink slip yesterday". No offense, but we must act when we can, and before its late. Pink slip is more painful when you are on H1 than on GC. Right??.
Most of our folks (EB3) as it looks like want to wait.. scared to raise.. but dont realize they can contibute and help the economy.

I received a response from the ombudsman. I am not sure if our issue is properly understood by his office. When we write about AC21 issues, the response talks about I-140 delays. Gurus, please help me understand the contents of the response below:
Dear xxxxxxxxx:
Thank you for your recent correspondence to the Office of the Citizenship and Immigration Services Ombudsman (CIS Ombudsman). I appreciate your comments regarding I-140 processing at the Service Centers. We are well aware of the processing delays at all of the Service Centers and the AC21 issues created by these delays. USCIS has taken steps to address the processing delays, but their efforts have not come about swiftly. We have received several inquiries such as yours and are very concerned. We are currently discussing these issues with USCIS and continuing to review their policies and procedures concerning these petitions. Hopefully we will soon be able to help USCIS with a recommendation to address the I-140 delays and AC21 problems.
Generally, we do not accept case problems presented by emails. Under the authority of the Homeland Security Act of 2002, the CIS Ombudsman assists individuals and employers who experience specific problems during the USCIS benefits seeking process, largely to identify problems and to formulate recommendations to improve the USCIS service. Please see our website for more information about the CIS Ombudsman (www.dhs.gov/cisombudsman/). If you have an individual case problem, please follow the instructions outlined at the website.
I believe that first hand information from individuals like you is the best source for identifying systemic problems in the immigration benefits process. My office will consider the information you provided as we develop recommendations to improve USCIS practices and procedures.
Once again, thank you for taking the time to contact my office, and for giving me the opportunity to serve you. I look forward to the day when I can report that the work of this office has been accomplished because our vision of a world-class immigration benefits system has been achieved. Your contribution takes us a step closer to reaching this goal.

your ad shows a company that has advertised for no EAD, GC h1b etc., which is legal, AFAIK.
It is not a small difference, but not interviewing someone based on whatever is probably their prerogative (even this may have certain limitations like -you cannot say "no women" et6c.,), visa status is not considered a protected class... again AFAIK. They probably cannot say no GC, but CAN say only citizens because of some clearance required etc.,
This is different from getting someone through the interview loop, making an offer and THEN saying sorry we ont hire you now because of EAD. That is BS. As for saying no to H1B, we have all been there, a company that does not want to sponsor cannot be MADE to do it.
I was asking for a list of companies that have refused to work with EADs and have been cited for it or fined etc.,

People go by "how the wind flows" - when they just see a few of us stressing out they think they must not do anything - simply because they think wind is not blowing. Unless people believe in themselves and have the capabilities to make right choices and independent decisions, they will always be influenced by "negative flow". This is something we have always been facing in the community.
Every member and a guest must take these efforts seriously. Make your own wise judgement and not get influenced by negative flow. The negative community can pull you down big time, they have the capacity to destroy themselves and the entire community. Laziness seems to be the major cause for the negative energy and it will be interesting if people have any other excuses

Sorry to hear all these stories.
I always fly either Singapore or Cathay Pacific (i am from California) and i never encountered these problems at the transit points (Singapore, Hong Kong, Seoul etc). Infact Singapore is one of the most pleasant airports for any layover. Usually, whenever i fly Singapore, i have a layover of over 9 hours, but the airport is so huge and so many nice facilities that one rarely gets bored (You can get a complementary tour of the city too, courtesy Singapore tourism or get a nice room inside the airport to relax, get a massage...). Add to that, ppl are so friendly there and you can see many Asians (Indians etc) working there that the environment is friendly and non-hostile, unlike most of th European transit points. (Earlier, i have flown via Frankfurt, Amsterdam where ppl were really hostile, as though every colored Asian that passes through their airports is a terrorist or an inferior human ...sick!)
Anyways..if you can take an extra flight from the east coast, please do try Singapore airlines from SFO or LAX and see the difference (no, no, i am not being paid to say good words about them :-))...

When I call through vonage phone, the wireless internet connection to other computers is getting lost. Is this the problem others have too?
Is it having another router in between your vonage phone and cable /DSL connection solve the problem?
Any thoughts? Has anyone inquired this with vonage folks?
Vonage won't affect any wireless connections.
Do you use a cordless phone ?
The wireless transmission from your cordless phone maybe affecting the transmissions from your wireless router.

There have been members on forums trying to find answers to common questions. Here are some answers and tips from Susan Henner
http://www.susanhenner.com/firmprofile.jsp
====================================
Question: multiple filing of I485 if both husband and wife have I140 approved.
As far as I know a person can and should only file 1 adjustment of
status
application. You can not be a double adjustment applicant! So choose
the
one with the 'more current' or older priority date as we expect some
retrogression in up-coming months. This may go by the numbers and
dates.
So you want to use the oldest date possible.
If a person uses one of his I-140s and the adjustment is for some
reason
denied, it appears that there is no reason why they can not then
re-apply
for adjustment using the other approved I-140 providing all the
requirements
are met under the petition.
My other advice concerns the fact that the filing fees are increasing
on
July 30th. This means every case should be filed by July 29th to avoid
any
increase. This really only gives people between July 1 and July 29 to
file
cases. So it will be a big rush.
I also recommend scheduling physician appointments ASAP. I am told
that
many INS physicians are extremely backlogged due to the visa
availability
now.

If you have other answers from lawyers, you can post them. Make sure to post the lawyer's name. Do not post your opinion. Post legal advice given to you by your lawyer, with the lawyer's name. This will help members get accurate advice and not opinions.

Loo Doggs is a xenophobe and nativist to the core...
He doesn't like Illegal immigrants "because they broke the law"
He says he likes Legal immigration, but then he curses every avenue for legal immigration under curent law.
1. He calls the diversity visa lottery the "great american giveaway" and has called for its abolition.
2. He calls family immigration "chain migration"
3. Finally, he calls employment-based immigrants as "stealing american jobs"
C'mon dude, its time to give up the pretense that you like immigrants!!
Too bad! they didn't deported his Granny when they came through Ellis Island.

Recently I travelled by Jet Airways and I had very good experience. They provide world class service even for Domestic flights and their international flights are just awesome. Brand new aircraft with bigger tv screen and they fly ontime. Also, no transit visa required at Brussels so no hassle for TV.
The only drawback of this is that you are not allowed to carry any liquid (including liquor) from US. However, you can buy as much as you want at Brussels airport and the prices are same as in US.
Thanks.
