Folks, can dependent's participate in writing letters to President? I have already mailed my hand written letter to White House and copy to IV team, in addition to that I got confirmation from other Indians with whom I work also mailed their letters..If dependents are also allowed then count for another 10 letters from my side...;)

Thanks for greaat posts, everyone. Just to follow up with Jaime's point it is tru that we are not all from India or Aisia in general. I guess I should have mentioned that. I am from a northern place - from Russia. Actually I was born and raised in one of the southern former Soviet republics, which had relatively warmer climate. But I lived for over 5 years in Russia before coming here. I just mention that, because I read it the cold Canadian weather seems to be the number one downside. It is not such a big deal to me or my wife, because it was as cold or perhaps even colder back home.
Just as Jaime I am not here just for ecenomic reasons. I wuld be better off (financially) back home. I guess we are in search of better life (qualitatively), and that is why I am wondering about Canada.
And perhaps due to somewhat European backgraund I seem to have nostalgia for European flare sometimes; hence the questions about Montreal (which I presume is a bit more European that TO).
I guess I would like to put a streignt question to those who lived in or familiar with Canada.

I prefectly agree with the fact that people are getting a bit overly impatient on the issues here , but I who has been patiently waiting and waiting and working with the state chapters just see a lull and silence on the immigration front ( Skilled and Unskilled ) . No one wants to talk about it or do anything about it on the Hill.Please prove me wrong here , I WANT TO BE WRONG !!!

Arnab, I understand your point. I mean it. My old priority date was Sept. '02 and after being stuck in backlog for years, I finally decided to change my job, my new priority date is in 2006.
Now, IV doesn't have control over the schedule followed by the US congress. Having said that, let me assure you that there is positive movement. If you look at recent posts by other members, you will see that momentum. That is the result of your efforts with DC rally and your contribution.
This last quarter of 2007 is do or die for us. That is why we are asking members to join state chapters and preparing for our next big push. All this may not be what you would be hoping for but guess what, without your efforts we wouldn't have come so far. So have some more patience.

I understand you don’t care about the United States and its people and you’re only interested in what you can gain from them but if you weren’t so blinded by greed you’d see this is something else they can give to you. Now I know why I took the route I did, I would have accomplished far less in my personal life with the likes of you. In fact, I may doing to much sharing my expertise with you. I refuse to have my name tarnished any further. Besides, you’re only a beginner. What was I thinking? IV really ought to make it clear to everyone that this is an amateur site. Maybe by changing its name to Beginning Immigration. IV definitely is not the voice of Immigration – my voice is different from IVs and I’m dealing with immigration. Well thought I had to answer this better. The answer is YES, we can get bills introduced and passed if we had 2 million dollars. Lets not make assumptions about what congress cares for, we'll let core members handle that. As written previously, we have managed to get quite a lot of change done with minuscule funding, even though we haven't been able to afford the best people.
Maybe right now even achieved a bit more than the illegal immigration lobby.
How exactly do we do it? - Check Donor forum, where we get constant updates on our efforts in Washington DC.
Donations start at a one time of $25, even if that's the only thing you do all year.
There are some thinking why not get everything for free, when IV is already working? Its a tendency of many to save as much as possible, and get the thrill of getting something free. As I speak, Donors are benefiting from IVs efforts. United we can achieve a lot, Divided we fail.
The other common excuse is - "I really don't care, even if I don't get the GC, I can always find a job back home. Pay $1000 for my return flight. Just visiting... "
Well I guess the other option of spending much less, getting a GC in 1-2 years, starting your own business in the USA, making much more money is really something no one wants.

I would rather NOT believe that most people here are with a free-loader mentality - waiting for others to fund and drive the momentum, while they just keep yapping about their problems and concerns about the situation, laws, regulations, illegals, employers etc. etc.

Those who complains about curruption in back home, will NOT try to improve system back home and also in case of GC processing, their contribution will be only "Negative comments" but NO constructive approach to improve ANY systems..

As IV grows maybe this is a help IV can extend to all its donor members and help them if they get in such extreme distress situations. This is one of the ideas we are thinking for our members in the donor group.

Ok, I've seen a lot of threads about go to the rally, actions items, I've reading a lot of guys saying dont ask for your receipt status, dont waste your time etc, etc.
Yes we did the rally we were great with all those signs, and appearing in the Indy TV but...
Question remains open:
1. When are they going to increase the GC quota?
2. When congress id going to do something?
I've the feeling that that's it we made our point but we are still with no GC, waiting receipts..............

I am currently on H1B visa and I want to switch the company. New company is not willing to do H1B transfer and want me to work on EAD. I have pending I485 EB3 ROW with priority date of March 2006. Its been more than 180 days that I filed for I485 so I can use AC21 with EAD.
But my question is how risky will it be if I switch job at this stage with EAD?

For the past five years, i have been dealing with the SFO Indian consulate and they have been extremly efficient in processing my papers, when i have sent them over , be it for Visa or Passport.

I think most of EB3I and EB2I are missing one point.
EB3I didn't loose anything by the change in spillover policy few years back.
It is EB3-world who lost. Obviously EB2I and EB2C was on the gainers side.

(or to be more precise, it is currently EB1->EB2->EB3 since spill overs are not considering country based limitations)
Either way EB3I was last in the que. So nothing changed for EB3I or EB3C.
EB2I or EB2C on the other hand moved ahead of EB3row, that is very noticeable.
EB1I/C also moved ahead of EB2row, by this is not that noticeable, since all these categories were close to "current" either way.
In summary, you change the spillover whatever way.... EB3I is always going to be at the end of the line, least benefiting from any spill over.

She is waiting for GC for more than 5 years, has 2 different I-140s. But should she go for interfilling? Let me ask this question to fellow sufferers.
Our company lawyer never answers question in details, and is not responding on this. She will have to send directly to USCIS in case...
First I-140 - Company A - EB3 - PD July 2003 - approved June 2007 - nothing further, she has the copy of I-140 approval notice though.
Second I-140 - Company B - EB2 - PD Jan 2006 - approved April 2007 - currently filed in july 07
Even after so much begging, the lawyer refused to entertain her and did not asked for PD transfer.
Her husband is working using EAD since last year, is not in H4 status anymore. This is why she is extremely cautious and not taking any chance with her pending I-485. (afraid to interfile all these days.)
What can she do now? I know her EB2 is current as if August 2008, so that is another factor to consider.
