Sbind,
I am also in the same situation, My (including my wife) I-485 case was approved on 8/5, my wife received physical card 2 weeks after and I received a FP notice (Code 2) and i gave my biometrics on 9/29 and my I-485 status changed from Approved to Initial Review on the same day. Its scared me and i immediately called USCIS to know whats happenning and have created an SR...so far no response yet. I have my approval notice, as you suggested i will take an INFO pass and get it stamped on my passport.
Please update your case in this thread.
Thank you

I got my FP done on 10/05. My 485 status changed from Approved to Initial Review on that day. I believe it's auto status change. I have my approval notice and Permanent Resident stamp on my passport. I booked infopass appointment on 11/01 to know inquire about this change.

It is so pathetic that there are so much people waiting in EB3-I category.
This Guy just applied in Dec 2004 and got GC. His question is whether i need to carry ?
it is only karma.

We have been through this discussion already and not everyone agrees with the idea. Some argue that it's not easy to do yet others only believe in hitting the home run and nothing less is acceptable.
I guess the reality lies somewhere in between.

Does anybody recall an old TV serial in India named 'Appu aur Pappu' about a boy and his elephant?! :D
Looks like the long GC wait is turning me into a crazy person if I start recalling such old serials! :(

Thanks KevinKris for sharing the info.
Your documents represents the I-140 info.
I was trying to check what is the priority date attached to I485 application. Seems there is no such info. attached to pending I-485 application.
Also, just now I checked my 485 receipt. The PD column in my I-484 receipt is blank. Is this common for every one? Just curious?
Yes, That is very common. You just need to verify the priority date is correct in your 140 approval notice.

sam_hoosier,
You are correct to the 'could' part.
Let me begin my explanation by stating my position on debt default:It is bad, it' NOT worth it and don't ever do it. With the explanation that I will be providing below, I don't want to sound like I'm encouraging debt defaulting, which I'm absolutely NOT. There are severe consequences for your credit, if you default a debt.
So, with that accusation out of my way :), let me explain the logic behind why I think OP is ok. Only thing that is in OP's favor is statutory time-limits, he had dodged the debt bullet for 5 years, afaik, creditors including the collection agencies lose their right to take him to court for a debt older than 5 years from the first date of default. Unless, OP makes some kind of partial payment now, which will bring the debt to current. At this point it will be a mistake for OP to do that. Collection agencies force him to do that mistake with all kinds of scary tactics -- He got to have a thick skin to settle the debt with whatever he can afford once for all.
Secondly, collection agencies buy debt in bulk, like 1000 defaults at a time. Collection agencies go through a rigorous screening processes, including threatening phone calls, attorney-letter-head notifications etc, for each debt, even before they can take it to court. When they could not talk to him or trace him or find any utility bills of him for 5 years, they would just consider him as MIA. Unless this guy is a rich dude with Hummers parked outside his mansion all the time Or has couple of rental properties on his name, they will not risk further investment on this particular debt.
Like always, my 2 cents.
I stand by my suggestion that OP must seek help from a Govt or a not-for-profit Debt Help or the best thing is to seek Attorney's help if you can afford. Don't go to the collection agency or to any of your debtors first.
Best!
Your comment is factually incorrect.
The creditor (or collection agency) can take you to court. If you don’t show up,the judge rules in favor of the creditor and against you. However, this judgment is just an acknowledgement that you owe the money.
In order to collect another court date must be assigned to perform a ‘writ of execution’. If they summon you for this, and you don’t appear, they may issue a bench warrant for your arrest.
If the amount is small enough, the creditor may just write it off (with impact to your credit history). But if its big enough they could go down the legal route.

I did not feel like signing along for two reasons: we are not US citizen yet, and I consider myself citizen of the world and will always be. I do not aspire to become citizen of the United States of America.
Even when Americans sang their national anthem in a church, I felt not right. Churches are not supposed to be linked to states. There should be no country boundary within the Christian world.
There should be no country boundary within the world we want to build either.
By the way, if the United States go to war with your country of birth, who will you side with? Will the United States trust you?
Newsflash: USA is a country (with a boundary). USA has a national anthem. They like to sing it, everywhere. If it makes them happy when I sing it, I will sing it too. It is like visiting someone's home and you are asked to take off your shoes at the entrance. Maybe you don't agree with it, but out of respect to the host it is a nice thing to do.
Relax and be more generous! I think you have more boundaries in you than this country has.
(If USA goes to war with my home country, I think they will trust me less if I come here and live and refuse to sing the national anthem...)

Hi,
I own a D70
I too have become obsessive compulsive about the back focus issue.
I can see it (barely) when I use the kit lens.
It is Not there with the 50mm 1.8 Nikkor I have tried as well.
To the average user, you would never notice it. As far as I can tell, my BF is about 5mm behind what I lock on to. You really only see it if you are wide open and zoomed way in.
Im not sure if I want to bother sending it in. (Hassle)
Other than this issue I must tell you that the D70 is a fantastic camera!
I've used tons of cameras and this one functions beautifully.
It gets excellent color. (Skintones blow Canons away)

Guys pls stop taking useless info pass appointments. People like me who have not received EAD and may loose the job are not able to get infopass appointments because of all the people taking appt to know the 485 status. Pls understand......
We always get appointments with in less than 24 hrs in the local USCIS office(closest to Upstate New york). I don't think its a big deal here. I am not sure about other offices.
Again based on the urgency, one can always decide whether to take info pass or not. Appointment time frame is always same for everyone. Unless its urgent(relative to personal needs), one can always take an appointment with USCIS.

I Agree...
belive it or not, I knew that. I mean the part about the US, not the part about India as I don't hail from there.
The point that I was trying to make but did not state clearly enough was that I feel that when one has a political agenda whether it is pro or anti immigration, children should be kept out of it. Labeling children like anchor babies is dehumanizing. I believe that when kids are involved, as human beings, everyone should always be concerned about their best interest rather than what our political view.
This is why I hate the term anchor babies. The antis are willing to even dehumanize kids if it fits with their political view.

Hi
I am also from south east michigan. I don't any see posting in this section, which surprises me. We have to mobilize our friends in this region as Michigan Senator is going to hold a key position in the new congress.
Thanks for signing up on this thread for MI chapter. I am surprised too that overall only few members have volunteered. we need to really get more people at local level to help out with IV activities. pls. contact your friends to sign up and spread the word.

Why do you guys have such a hard time believing....
Law says what it says
Visa bulletin has the notce
Berkleybee isn't saying anything in that conversation with DOS which isn't already covered by the law or the note in 2005 visa bulletin.
Still; everyone is thinking it is a mistake and it is going to get current in 3 to 4months?
The cynic in me believes that everyone thinks it is just a matter of time before it becomes current or there is significant movements in dates. This is dead wrong. All one needs to do is look at data coming out from backlog processing centers; amount of 245i labors; statistics on how many people have come on h-1b; l-1's, b visas, f visas, amont of perm labor approvals; amount of greencards approved over the last five years.
It is going to be a very, very long time before there is significant movement in dates.
The cynic in me thinks Berkleybee posted it in immigration.com so that people may now get the message the dates aren't going to move. They aren't going to move significantly next year either. There is TOO many people going for greencards.
As long as people think that the dates are going to move, then they sit on the fence and don't do much to get rid of retrogression.
I am sure if people could get convinced that in current environment; visa dates will never get current then people may have some urgency in participating to get rid of retrogression.
UN,
I have strong belief on your postings. Dont know about Berkleybee
I am from India EB3. I strongly believe that we can change this system, after all it is human made, outdated and obviously not suitable for current scenario.
So realistically what we can do about this, if so what would be the approach.

Roseball, your 2 cents is the correct advice in any other job market. take it from a person going through PERM advertising phase now. its really bad out there and big corporations are not taking any chances.. they are simply asking us to wait, even if it means leaving the country for us.
for OP, if you can keep your EB3 intact and try EB2 as an option (not sure if it is possible) by all means, try it. but don't jeopardize your EB3 application in this market. right now, I may have to leave the country next year when my 6th year is complete because i couldn't apply for GC before 365 days.
P.S: I am in mechanical engineering field, may be the market is bad for cases like me. I don't know your case. all the best with your decision either way.
..You might as well start it now so you can complete the PERM documentation and advertising phase and file PERM in 2-3 months duration instead of waiting. Thats my 2 cents.

Agree with genscn. Actually, if your wife is not working on-campus, then she doesn't even have to show her EAD. Just send your I-485 receipt copy which proves that she is here under AOS status in which case she can study anywhere she wants and take as many credit hours she wants without being out of status.
Just let the school know that your wife doesn't need to be in F1 status anymore. Let them report whatever they want to the INS.

I fully agree with the intent of this thread..
Those who do not agree with IV agenda and want to run their own agenda here are free to create their own forum and pursue their agenda there.
Everyday people come up with different divisive agenda. Enough is enough...
We cannot take it anymore...
Founders of IV and those who believe in IV don't do it just for themselves. We are fighting for betterment and for the relief of the whole community.
We should challenge those who divide us - whether they are outsiders or insiders. If insiders don't believe in our mission, they are no longer insiders. They are outsiders and dealt with the way we will deal with anyone from NumbersUSA trying to divide us... If banning such people works, I am all for it!
Let them go and start their own groups.. lawsuits and civil action or whatever...
If people are here to divide, we are no longer going to be silent spectators.
Enough is enough!
We stand united in our fight for relief to IV community.
