go to DOl website and peruse the different Job Classifications and then see if any job responsibility for a particualr job Code fall under Job Zone 5 - whcih may be close to the kind of duties u perform...and try to convince ur manager and then ur lawyer.

In reality though, everyone who has viewed this thread (1563 views when I last checked - even if you assume each person has checked this thread at least 10 times, that's about 156 individuals out of whom only about 35 have voted so far!) and not bothered to vote is essentially voting "No"! And again, you havent defined "more". Currently, I believe the contribution limit is 25 dollars per month. When you say more - what number are you thinking of. And now look at the folks who said YES. What numbers are they looking at. If you had put in a number and said "are you willing to pay x dollars per month .." - then you can be assured of that the members who say YES are on the same page as you. Right now, what you have is a number of folks but they may not be on same page.
And what is the definition of "updates" ? We are not working here on a fixed time project where the deliverable is due at the end of period 'x'. For quite a lot of period, the updates will be generic and on the lines of "we are working on getting to our goals and we are making progress". You will not get any more details than this. Turn around and check with the folks who said YES -- is this what they are expecting. Or they are expecting something different.

IV has probably 25k+ registered users. This is a good number to look at. Practically, how many of them have logged in and used this system for the last six months and three months and last month. I dont know the exact number but have a strong feeling that this number will probably in the 10-15 percentile only. And guests is not equal to an unregistered IV member. Not every person posts on this site. There are a lot of people who just browse the forums and dont post - they dont need to login everytime they come on to this site - therefore you will see a good chunk of visitors but they necessarily are not unregistered members.

None of what I wrote above is personally against you - I appreciate your efforts but feel that we need to approach it differently - probably equating updates with money is not a good approach given that once someone gives money , they may start having a feeling of entitlement and we may not be ready to handle it.

Weldonsprings, you might be mistaken about the UAFA bill which is up for a vote on June 3, 2009. The intent of the UAFA is to allow US Citizens and permanent residents to sponsor their foreign-born partners for permanent residency by means of demonstrating a "permanent partnership". I just want to make sure that IV not forgotten People that stuck in PBEC. So far as an active member and an active contributor for IV I have to say that I'm dissapointed as far as the way IV addressed PBEC Issued.
Most of disscussion in IV forum seems like focusing on retrogression issue only.
for people that have their case are among 350000 case pending in PBEC the retrogression has no effect at all unless their case clear out before the retrogression get solved.
There are so many of us had been waiting for their labor get approved.
5, 6, 7 year are a long wait.
I noted that IV do have PBEC mentioned on the web fax, but please make sure that retrogression is not the main goal of IV.

On the other hand, this thing may not affect non IT folks.
My 2 cents - be careful at workplaces and try to avoid discussing about our issues with co workers, 99% of them are ALIPAC, NumbersUSA, Programmer's guild etc....
They are the ones working against you

assuming you have done everything for registration of the company... you are all set... no other formalities. you may want to write bye-laws of the company if you wish to pursue vc funding or partners... other than that you should be good..
if you are a new company, very likely that you got a credit card that is backed by your personal credit... thats somethign to take care off.
After incorporating the company in one of the states. What are the next important things one as a owner of the company needs to take care of especially if it is in IT product development area ( ofcourse including consulting but not purely comparable to predominent desi consultancy services)
Specifically in the following category:
1. If you are selling IT software products and services, what are the legal necessary formalities one needs to take care of?
2. How about expanding the branches in outside USA? May be a branch office in India to leverage huge technical resources? Any legal or other things to be taken care of ?
3. Bank Accounts next steps

I have one question: My I-485 applcation (employment based) was rejected due to I-130 attachment in error.
If USCIS reject my entire package of I-485 because I have attached I-130 application. What are my options? Is there any law that USCIS can only reject I-130 and accept I-485 appplications (myself and for my wife)? I have seperate fee checks for all the applications.

When law abiding persons are prevented from gun ownership; crime goes up. Because whether it is legal or not, criminals always have guns.
Actually very true. I for one have held off on buying a gun (though my wife highly disapproves of guns) simply because I dont have a GC and dont want any hassles. Besides I live in Chicago which has a ban on guns. Ironic that the maximum killings and drive by shootings happen maybe 30-40 blocks from where I live but the city doesnt allow legal law-abiding residents to own guns.

The Ombudsman agrees with the assessment of many case workers and supervisors at USCIS field offices and service centers that the FBI name check process has limited value to public safety or national security, especially because in almost every case the applicant is in the United States during the name check process, living or working without restriction.
