You've ever heard of kamikaze missions help by Japanese pilots during world war 2?
They were suicide missions to bomb American targets (like Pearl Harbor) knowing very well they will not come back alive. They would crash their planes into enemy targets laden with a lot of explosives.
Go figure!
Whatever side you are on, there is no way you can liken kamikaze mission to a suicide. Kamikaze mission was of bravery, people willing to die for their countries -- that is the ultimate sacrifice. People committing suicide are just cowards who aren't strong enough to face life problems thrown at them. I am sure a lot of us here have lost investments too, but we are going to pick ourselves up and continue to make our lives -- not end it.

I own a D70
I too have become obsessive compulsive about the back focus issue.
I can see it (barely) when I use the kit lens.
It is Not there with the 50mm 1.8 Nikkor I have tried as well.
To the average user, you would never notice it. As far as I can tell, my BF is about 5mm behind what I lock on to. You really only see it if you are wide open and zoomed way in.
Im not sure if I want to bother sending it in. (Hassle)
Other than this issue I must tell you that the D70 is a fantastic camera!
I've used tons of cameras and this one functions beautifully.
It gets excellent color. (Skintones blow Canons away)

Please share your experience with us when done.
Mine is already done last month. You may have to wait there for couple of hours if you go on weekend. But once your number comes, it will be very fast.
It takes
20 minutes - 1.5 hours - Waiting time
5 minutes for physical checkup
2 minutes for shots
1 minute for blood work and PPD
2 minutes to pay initial fee
48-72 hours for PPD results ( Since labs are very very busy, they may take upto 4 days to send them blood work report)
After 48-72 hours
30-40 minutes wait to show your ppd result
1 minute - Dr to see PPD result
10 minutes - for xray if ppd positive
5 minutes - other shots if your blood report says so
5-10 minutes - for dr to read x-ray
2 minutes to pay for remaining fees
30 minutes - wait to get your sealed envelop ( otherwise go next day)

I agree with you all. Thank you helpful_leo for starting this thread. It is very important to suggest amendments to the language of PACE act so that the following groups are included:
i) People who have already received a Ph.D. from an accredited US university.
ii) People who will be graduating with a Ph.D. from an accredited US university after the passage of this bill.
As helpful_leo pointed out in the 'PACE amendment suggestions' thread, we should suggest that the language in the bill be amended so that the proposed adjustment of status benefits will apply to any individual who can provide the following two pieces of evidence :
i) Received a doctoral degree from an accredited US university and,
ii) Has been subsequently employed in the US for at least one year.
- Do you know when the PACE act will be up for discussion in the senate?
- Does the current language suggest that doctoral students who qualify will be able to directly file I-485 without even the need for filing I-140?

Personally I do think giving this 55,000 annual quota green cards to employment-based Science & Medicine immigrants is better than giving DV-lottery to other lucky people just win the lottery but without any high educational qualification. Also, since international students have stayed in US for long years and they have documents such as social security no. and driver licenses' to run the comprehensive background check. Therefore, it minimizes a lot of the risk to invite the criminals to immigrate.
However, I am curious whether this bill will be beneficial to all US advanced graduates in Science & Medicine or not. I know some new H-1B workers in those advanced degrees may NOT be the EB-type and they need to wait for certain years and then the employers will sponsor them green cards as the EB-category. And if the employers don't sponsor them green cards due to companies' merging different departments or for other accidental reason, they will lose their green cards.
Also, some advanced graduates in Science & Medicine cannot get the H-1B working visa smoothly due to H-1B quota is full and need to leave US and some of them can't get the
H-1B extension and need to leave US. Or some of them got laid off during their employment period due to merge of 2 companies and if they can't find another employer, they need to leave US too.
Therefore, if they can't get into the EB category, this bill cannot help them out!! Personally I do think if to allow all those advanced graduates in Science & Medicine to enroll online by "first come, first served basis" and once the 55,000 quota is filled, then they need to wait for the next year to immigrate. This will be fair and can retain all those US advanced gradudates in Science & Medicine who are graduated in different years with different luck to get the H-1B working visa.

1) First thing is, the I-94 on COS approval and I-94, currently present in my Passport does not match.
2) First name and middle name are interchanged in the passport and H1 approval.
Is this going to create any problem while applying SSN? What are the possible consequences..

First, I do not think there will be any one with similar scenarios!

It is FBI that is responsible for namecheck ... not sure USCIS has any control over them. My understanding is I-485 premium processing would apply only to USCIS processing of the paperwork.
Then, of course, it won't help much because for most people name check is taking 2 years, and 485 processing via the regular route takes less time than that.

Hi,
My company is asking me to pay the extension fees for 3rd term with same company. I had approved 140. In USCIS receipt it says amount received: $320. Then why I am asked to pay $1820. Is the $1500 towards training is to be paid by employee or employer?
Most probably the 1500 is attorney fees.

If you put the IOs into situation where they can potentially make mistakes...
more often then not, they will make a mistake. Then you have to pay the USCIS to fix their own mistake by filing MTR. Not to mention unnecessary stress... That being said, everybody has different risk tolerance.

This amendment DOES NOT TAKE AWAY anything from the rest of the world at all! All it does is benefit SKILLED workers. Isn't IV about skilled workers? Why are some folks whose quota will NOT be CANNIBALIZED against this and consider this an issue of Indians/Chinese Vs Rest is beyond me. Dude the person apparently not in good mental state. People do crazy things with they are in such situation. Who knows what went wrong. May be he felt that his family would suffer without him and incorrectly thought to take them with him. He seems to be caring father until this tragic event. Please stop pointing finger and pray that god be with the families who lost them.
As much as I am saddened by the tragic event and my prayers are with the family, I still can't digest the fact that he killed all the family members. Whatever was going thru his mind, he was a coward. There was no need to take others life. I don't want to judge here, but I can talk about committing suicide which is totally wrong. He had NO RIGHT, NO EXCUSE whatsoever to take others life. Period. And I stand by my statement.
