I have two interviews lined up in August for jobs in the Vancouver area. I will move in a heartbeat if the opportunity arises. At this pace bye the time I get american green it will probably be useless for me, because my prime years would be gone. I'm tired of leaving on temporary plans for the rest of my life. I have friends that make 3 times as much as I do...The only difference is that they have a GC and I do not..and I am making much better than an average American....
So your saying that I am not suffering is not soothing to me...It does not reduce my pain.....It does not convince me in any way....
Not just that...My friends who chose not to come to America now have a higher net worth than me....So coming to America has not exactly been a great thing for me....More over whatever you are saying is just salt on my wounds...nothing less than that....

I recently quit my job and have been out of work for 2+ months, looking to get on to another job on EAD now.
1. Are there any risks to my AOS application with I not being employed for 2-4 months? I-140 petition is approved, worked at my last employer for more than 180 days from my date of I-485 filing. Left my last employer on good terms, I-140 petition will not be revoked.
2. As for the new job, would getting a new job on contract (possibly a 12 month contract with a Fortune 50 company) be a problem? I was under the impression that one needs full time employment but wanted to clarify since the contracting vendor is willing to hire me for the 12 month term on W2 and was wondering if that would be sufficient. What kind of Employment Verification Letter may I have to produce incase I get an RFE for the same during this time period.
I would really appreciate your input. Thanks!

My lawfirm just sent everyone an official memo stating the possibility of retrogression sometime in July and that they are working overtime to get all the cases filed at the earliest...They are saying that there is no guarantee that the 485 application will be accepted if DOS decides to retrogress dates in July....
What a nightmare these current dates on July bulletin are turning out to be. Instead of feeling relaxed, I am frustrated. I wish I had fired my lawyer the day the bulletin came out and done everything myself. I could have been ready now with fedex packets. The thing is, you dont want to start picking fights with everyone especially when the lawyer is not even hired by you but hired by company's HR department. So I kept quiet and was prepared to see my application go out on the 25th. And now, after denying that "it wont happen, it wont happen", all the lawyers are suddenly doing a flip-flop and saying "Oh, by the way, anything can happen". WTF ???

This is indeed a very entertaining thread, cannot help myself but laugh on reading the posts.
But what is so amazing about these Amway folks is that now matter whatever way you argue with them they are utterly convinced that they will be millionaire soon.
Whenever I am in a bad mood i try to remember one of the meeting that i attended where everybody was cheering for each others like 3rd grade kids.

The point of the thread is that many people now think that cost of american dream is greater than the opportunity, and the balance is tilting in favor of other countries. Everyone makes their own assessment. No point in getting personal about it. Just a suggestion..using phrases like "suck blood out your body" will just reduce the effect of your argument.
And Do you (canadian wanna be) have any clue that to get respected salary and position you will be forced by illiterate Canadians to have "Professional Engineering Certificates"... It will suck blood out of your body for 5 years... So just do not read "Greener Side" of Canadian Immigration... I know it may not be applicable to all but more or less most of will have to face the same music in their careers. My all Canadian friends and relatives want to be Americans.. Only some of them practically could proceed for that.. After some stage of life it becomes hard to move families.. That is the reason they are facing now to take decision and simultaneously do not want to live in Canada anymore.. If you have 101 fever it will take 1 month to have Doctor's appointment... GST.. Higher taxes.. statistically there are chances "Most of members of this forum - Canadian Wanna Be" will have less promotions and/or increments in salary eventhough they will find themselves most skilled wherever they will work. Top posts would be the dream for most of you guys unless you start your own business.. if you understand what I am trying to tell... In USA it is not that way.... Its in today TOI that Congress/UPA govt. has raised a concern to their PAK counterparts about safely of some 35 Sikh families living in a small village which falls in Taliban's territory.
Why not a single statement by UPA Govt. / MPS/ any high ranking diplomats for Srinlankan's Tamil ? Are they affraid of Congress leadership or what ?
I don't know for what cause LTTE is fighting for and see them as same other terrorist organization in name of freedom. Its LTTE and their leaders who should be punished and brought to justice for killing of Rajeev Gandhi, not the whole community.
Don't be too confident that you may never be in the situation like them. Who knows tomorrow ? History tells us that you would be never safe on foreign soil ! If its not you, it would be your next generation who might seek support from your home country

Let's stay united and focus on the orignal agenda. Removing country based caps from Employment Based Green cards is a valid agenda and is been there before this VB popped up. Skills don't need a cap.Business should be able to hire best and brightest here without any country limits.
Enforce country cap on Family based GC/DV lotterry for the diversity sake. FYI India and China don't have access to DV Lottery. This system is insane and let's not fight among ourselves to defend this crappy immigration system. . U may see ROW retrogress to 1998 in next VB and what will u say then ?. Bottom line is Fighting will not take us anywhere and changing this unpredictable system will be the only way to go.

Dear Sir/Madam,
I myself is currently in H1B and my wife on H4. We both have EAD and AP which we�re never activated since we had our H1 and H4 and my wife has not started working.
She should be starting work very soon and hence we would like to renew her EAD and AP. Also as part of her new job she needs to travel oustide US. So the question I had is whether she can travel outside US on her currenty valid AP with the application for renewal of AP/EAD in processing with USCIS.

This kind of statements are used just to bluff the congress. Bear in mind 140k is the quota and may not be the target. Looks like they did it again (I mean bluff DOS and Congress) and DOS had no choice to move the dates so that overseas visa post can consume the remaining visa.

This new rule of USCIS, effects every one. In one way or the other. if the rule is enforced strictly
1)The unemployment increases (Paralegal staff, lot of americans working for consulting companies(IBM, TEK systems, accenture etc.., Immigration Lawyers, uscis personel, staff.. You name it)
2)It effects Greencard holders or EAD holders not directly but in one or two years because outsourcing increases.
3)F1 students mainly (man how are these guys going to survive if consulting companies cant apply for them)

Can anybody suggest some good lawyers/attorneies/agencies who are not money suckers like US immigration attornies ? Also, somebody mentioned that one can apply Can immigration by himself. Is there any issue with that ?

Go to CIC web site and download all the forms and instruction book you need in pdf - Fill them yourself - Pay fees - Follow instructions which come after filing - Simple process.

I have been granted a PR last week; Now, I am waiting for the card to arrive in the mail. I will be traveling out of USA next weekend. I renewed my H1 once since my last entry and have one white I-94 and other one came with the 797 approval notice. Do I need to give my I-94 to the airline staff or should I keep it with me? Please advice.

My labor is approved in August 2007 and I have approved I140.It is likely that my company might declare chapter 11(bankrupt).I have not yet filed my I1485 yet as dates are not current for my PD.
My question is can I port my I140 to a different company B and extend my H1 based on the approved I140 from company A.
If yes, What documents do I need from company A to get this done.There were some posts which said I cannot port without having my 485 filed and pending approval for 180 days.is this true?
