There was a problem in the first two of seven D70s I've used. The focus calibration was off by about a tenth of a millimeter. This means that your images will not be focused on your subject, but instead on something somewhat behind your subject. Don't confuse this with the common mistake of having selected the wrong AF area or otherwise pointing the AF sensor to the side of your subject. Nikon of course will adjust this under warranty if it's a problem. With common f/3.5 and slower lenses it's not much of a problem, and at regular shooting apertures of f/8 or so its completely invisible. Some people incorrectly call this the "backfocus" problem.
On the other hand, if you have fast lenses that alone cost more than the complete D70 kit and you shoot them wide open you ought to check your camera. My $1,700 28mm f/1.4 lens (http://www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/2814af.htm) wide open at f/1.4 was useless on two cameras, but of course OK at normal apertures. You won't see this through the finder. You have to look at the images at 100% on your computer. It's simply the image being focused on something just a little behind where it should have, which is usually invisible if you have enough depth of field, and of course Nikon will stand behind it if it really is a problem. The samples I've used in May 2004 now seem AOK and mine is perfect, even at f/1.4.

Please use a real Allen wrench to make these adjustments, and remember that Nikon will do it correctly for you for free under warranty and probably clean your camera as well at the same time!

The idea for this organization was path-breaking to start with. On top of it all the hard work to sustain the effort, and advance it!

Murthy's lawyer suggested Consular processing as an option.
She explained that in Consular processing I still need continued Sponsorship from my firm, but it will revoke my 485 application. I will end up filling bunch of forms with USCI, including 824.
This was my PD will remain intact and when it becomes current, I will have to go to Indian Consulate and get Immigrant Visa from there.
IN this whole process My firm needs to continue sponsor my GC processing. Advantage is : I don't have to come and renew my EAD and AP every year.

My PD is Feb 2004, so I've been current for almost 2 months now. Though, my ND is 9/12/2007 and NSC is processing 7/14/2007, so that's not current yet...
Receipt date and not notice date is the factor.
Also, NSC has been processing even people with October notice dates and appoved people with current PDs.

What will be my status after i file my I485?
My current I-94 will expire on 16th Sep 2007 (on the day my current visa stamp in my passport expires and my current H1 B is set to expire Mid April 2008).
I am planning to make a trip to Cannda or someplace to get a new I-94 as soon as i get my new passport (i had sent it for renewal on june 2nd). But i am a little worried about my status if i am unable to make the trip.
So my question is what will be my status after 16th sep 2007 (once i file for I485 (first week of July2007) and my I-94 expires on 16th Sep 2007)?

Your question is not clear but when you say I-94 I assume you mean the I-94 that you got the last time you entered the country, right? The expiration date on that has nothing to do with your status as long you have an approved I-797 for your H1B extension till April 2008. You are in status till that time.
But you do need an unexpired Visa stamp on your passport if you leave the country and want to come back to the US.
So the way I see it, even after filing 485 you will continue to be in status till April 2008 and then I am sure you will extend that for another term if your I-485 is still pending.
As for going to Canada to get a new I-94, it may not work because they do not make you surrender your old I-94 when you go to Canada and so therefore do not issue a new I94 when you return after a short trip to Canada.

Your question is not clear but when you say I-94 I assume you mean the I-94 that you got the last time you entered the country, right? I have two more question that I am not sure about:
1-I understand from your letter that EB2-NIW has less requirements than EB1-OR, and hence it is more safe to apply for EB2-NIW. Is that true?
2-In case I want to apply for EB1-OR, does my company has to sign I-140. I am just worried that they does not want to sponsor me till after 3 years? Does I-140 hurt the company by any means?

"Current Status: Fingerprint fee rejected and notice mailed; case in suspense."
When I spoke with my attorney, he says, There are two options.
1. I can dispute and in turn get my processing delayed
2. Repay the fingerprint fees ($70) and forget about my first payment
Naturally, anyone would prefer option - 2.
Just wanted to share with you all...

I am not sure what your point is. I am contributing monthly and I am not trying to judge anybody here. All I am trying to say is there needs to be alternate ways of reaching people unless all the 8400 registered people frequent the forums here. Press coverage in India is an excellent idea. I think this bloody american press is biased. We should all write to Indian press and highlight our issues in strong words. If we can get 100+ letters to TimesofIndia, HT, IE , NDTV, Deccan, Hindu, etc, we can highlight the discrimination and indentured servitude to the young Indian generation who has high hopes for USA. If 100+ H2B workers can stage dharna in front of an embassy/white house why cant issues of Indian people get highlighted? Lets us show the job here in the same light as slavery in middle east. I am sure David Mulford will be ringing a few phones after that.

I filed mine on May 12 and sent to Phoenix Lock box and had the same issue. My checks are not cashed and am going through the same pain as you do. My lawyer suggested its not unusual to have these delays and it could take upto 4 weeks for the receipt notice to come. I am still tensed as the checks are not cashed and there is no receipt for the renewal. Please let me know how you are proceeding or find any new info

the effort to address the ugly country caps and retrogression in general shouldnt depend on someone else's misfortune - why should we profit from some other familiy's heartache? the system is atrocious and needs to be reformed - even if you get your gc tomorrow, hopefully u wont instantly join the group that wants to shut the door on those following-& pls make sure whateevr u sire too doesnt turn anti like the nutcases that i've come across
