Hello Everybody
This is my first post. I worked my ass off to get a favorable
solution for retrogression during the budget bill. But as everyone knows it was defeated in the house reconcilation. I'm not being pessimistic but my gut feeling is that eventhough senate comes with something, the chances are slim that the house would agree to it. Sensenbrenners bill which house passed has no provisions for EB immigrants and backlogs. I'm pretty sure all of you are aware of Mr. Tancredo's fury against immigrants too.
Having said that I dont mean we have no way out. We have to work very very hard. We have to raise money and do some hard lobbying. But above all we have to get our employers to back this issue. With all of the above reasons I think it might be a very bad idea to guess we would have any favorable legislation in a shorter span of time. So we have to plan something for a longer period of time and execute it very diligantly, I guess.
I think Immigrationvoice is on the right path... Lets face it people!!!

EB immigrants are not a hot political issue with the House, when the illegals are. Nowhere do the house representatives, except Tancredo and the likes, voiced their opposition to expanding EB immigration and providing some sort of relief for people caught in the backlog. I believe that the immigration provisions were dropped from S.1932 just because it was a wrong bill. The pork got chopped off and this pork was too easy to compromise as there were much more important issues to fight for, like drilling in Alaska and Medicare. This bill IS about immigration issues and is about border security issues as well. The fact that Frist's bill drops the very controversial guest worker program can be considered as both a good and a bad thing. It is good since the bill will sail more smoothly through the Senate and hopefully the conference. On the other hand it is bad since Senate representatives in the conference now will not have this guest worker program to trade and drop when House reps will demand to drop something off the bill. To my understanding the way the conferences work, they need to meet somewhere in the middle in between the versions of the bill and since we have the very minimalistic bill passed by the House it is the Senate which will need to compromise and drop provisions from its bill.
But taking the guest worker program off the bill is a good start I guess.

.. and how exactly do you know that I didn't participate? did you just look in to your crystal ball and it magically gave you a list of people who didn't call their lawmaker? I may not have posted any update in that thread but I did call my 2 senators.
If you think that I have to give you a daily update in writing on what I am doing everyday to support IV, you are up for a surprise because that isn't happening. Before you criticize others, at least think.
By the way, you don't own IV or this forum so please don't act like everyone needs your permission before posting anything on this forum.
All I am saying is that if there is a good reason to close a thread, just say so. Just give a one liner explanation and everyone is happy but I am not sure if that's too difficult for you understand.

Your most compelling argument of preponing your visa interview is that they have opened slots which were not earlier available and you would like to finish this process and keep some time incase some additional documentation was required, you would have the time to get it. Also, there is NO RULE that says you cannot prepone appointment.
Also, I suggested you get a fresh appointment at Mumbai (your original appointment was in Chennai - correct?)

Right now for all bills that Zoe proposed there are max 19 co sponser for this last bill. DID you check for STRIVE ACT 2007 which had 78 co-sponsers still could not make it to floor.
We need to call these lawmakers and educated them on these bills.
Chances are less but our investment is not that big. Few minutes in a day to call or write.

Lawsuite may not work in all occasions. If visa's are not available how can USCIS approve a petition? The law say a VISA should be available in order to approve a GC.

My PD is Aug 2005. My employer by mistake sent the 485 application on June 27 and USCIS received on June 28. Today Aug 21, I received the rejected 485 full package back. Employer is following up whether it can sent back. Anybody has any idea of any luck in this case, or has to wait till dates are current again?:mad:

I have nothing to say about the dems in particular...........however, you are being extremely short sighted if you want Obama to loose. He is driving this country in the right direction, and you go with any republican who just talks nonsense of tax cut and national security, you may have a green card or even citizenship - and your children will be wishing to go to another country as there are no opportunities here!

i disagree with you, i love obama the candidate, but since then he did little to merit his election, so howz health care gonna help ppl who have no job in the first place, stimulus was a colossal failure by any standard, he referred republicans as "enemies", howz that for a "change" in dc? we all know this country needs innovation but therz no significant increase in R&D under his presidency, i love some of his decisions but saying he is taking country in the right direction and there is no republican who can do that is not true,

Employee authorizes the Company to deduct and withhold such payment in full from any compensation or other amounts otherwise owed or payable to Employee. The payments will be due within 30 days of termination of the employment."
Bottom line, once you sign in legal terms you are agreeing to the company terms & conditions...as I highlighted above, its pretty clear that if you leave before the set time frame you will be responsible for paying them back!!

Per AC 21, it is soft quota - if you think about it, it is pretty simple.
In EB1, every country has 7% quota. Anything unused in EB1 ROW first goes to EB1 India and China. After that, the remaining number (say 4000) should flow to EB2. In EB2, every country has same 7% quota. Let us say 2000 is left unused. So, in all, 6000 extra visas should flow to anyone in EB2 category based on Pri dates.
