Folks, it's a good thing you guys are doing a grassroots drive. But please keep the chatter out of the public forums.
Anti-immigrants prowl on IV as members. If they get an hint, you are meeting any Rep./Senator on some day, they'll bombard that office with phone calls, E-mails and faxes same day or next day. It will in effect nullify all your efforts. It has happened in the past and it's sure to happen in the future.
So, please excercise due caution. Do not share information with the folks you don't know very well. These kind of actions are best suited to be carried out in your state chapter mailing-lists, where members are screened before joining. IV forums being public anyone can create a fake id in half an hour or one hour. It's not secure to carry these types of actions.

You are right that spill over of 23020 visas from family based category contributed to movements in EB2 categories, however that was not the only spill over that happened. There were 12144 unused visas in EB-4 and EB-5 category which also spilled over. You could argue that those visas spill over to EB-1, however EB-1 had usage of 36591 visas last year compared to maximum allocation of 40040 visas which meeans that EB-1 also had 3449 unused visas. This means that there was a spill over of 15593 visas just from EB-4,EB-5 and EB-1 category.

Lou has branded an entire national communiy in his hate filled rhetoric. I appreciate that good people differ in their views on immigration, but this crosses the line. H1b is "cheap Indian labor" and "overstay their visas" ??
Lou believes in quoting no facts, just bullishly repeating such views. Nobody who disagrees can ever get a word in. I am a specialist physician with multiple degrees and board certifications. I practice in underserved communities, speak fluent English and pay my taxes. My visa status is and always has been legal. Do I meet the Lou standards? I am waiting in an endless line for a green card that keeps me at the bottom based on my country of birth. So much for Lou's cheap labor! Has everyone forgotten his tacit support for outsourcing in his "other professional life"?
Shame on CNN for allowing this. I, for one, have no further interest in this channel.

Dude, You are looking at not getting a RFE based on the pics. Not that picture people or JCPenny takes great pics and make u look like Brad Pitt or Tom Cruise.

I got 2 RFE's for pictures only. Those are the only 2 RFE's till date for me.
I had real bad experience with digital pics. But there are many people who didnt have any issues. So it is all your luck.
If you have RFE, it sets u back by 2 months for the approval.

My PD is Aug 2005. My employer by mistake sent the 485 application on June 27 and USCIS received on June 28. Today Aug 21, I received the rejected 485 full package back. Employer is following up whether it can sent back. Anybody has any idea of any luck in this case, or has to wait till dates are current again?:mad:

Yes, don't worry guys. Once I-140 is approved, most of employment and job related stuff is over.
I-485 is mainly for status change stage to check criminal background (not job related :) ), FP and name check. They won't check much on job.
It is all straight forward and only a time consuming stage. Thats all. Enjoy the AOS pending stage.

I-140 is mainly matching job requirement to employee' skill set and experience and ability to pay for the employer. It does NOT check for out of status issues. I hope you know that person may not be US for I-140 to be approved.
I-485 is, like it says, adjustment of status and it checks for status issue. Please refer to section 245 in detail. Section 245(k), for example, applies to I-485 (and not to I-140).

People can show someone elses fedex receipt and claim that they too mailed their application. How can USCIS find out which fedex receipt is for what application?
You can't. No lawyer will do so as this is fraud. If uscis is able to track it down, ie: they kept the envelope, then such a person is in trouble.

Believe it or not I got so sick of sleeples nights (my 18 months old kid virtually rotates like a clock on bed all night long) that I had to buy a twin size sofa bed and place it next to our King Size bed. These days I am sleeping on that bed.

Now all the local regional associations are desperately painting them as scapegoats because if otherwise it will be a big dent to their own rep. And next the Feds will want to go smell fish at any AP run consulting firm . A general fraud impression will be built rapidly around that community.Very unfortunate if that happens. But WHY in the 1st place attempt such a massive fraud ? Bad for all. I just hate it .

Yes all the above/below said happened to a foreign citizen(you) not to their own citizens when they apply for passport renewal.
But indian consulates show their skills to their own people.No other consulate/government offices in the world treats their own citizen in similar manner.
The only time I have had to deal with the Houston Consulate (or any Indian Consualate in the US) was last year when I needed a new/renewed passport. Sent it by mail and received it back in 1 week. I really can't complain since it's the best experience I have had with any consulate.
I applied for a UK visa, and they stuck someone else's visa in my passport. To call them, there's only a paid line for 99c a minute, even if it's their fault. And I was put on hold for 15 mins.
Applied for a Canadian visa, 3 mnths in advance of my trip. When I asked after 3 weeks, they told me pretty rudely that of I enquire about the status, it'll take even longer to process. (This is a tactic I would love to use with my boss whenever he asks about the status of things I'm working on) :) Finally processed it in 2.5 months. This was a simple single entry for 4 days.
Applied for a schengen visa(Germany), they took 3 weeks to process a simple business visa. Sent back my documents saying that I didn't have coverage for repatriation of corpse should I die in Europe, even though my policy clearly had it and this was verified when I presented the documents in person at the consulate. Schengen countries demand that you apply in person, because they want to make sure you have the face for going to Europe.
I have a Dutch friend whose Indian wife took 3 mnths to get a visitor visa. This is because he complained to the Dutch foreign ministry when her visa wasn't done in 3 weeks. He was outraged that the wife of a Dutch citizen should be treated by his govt. like that. Oh well, they showed him.
So given all this, I would assume that all embassies/consulates are inefficient, simply because they are government workers who are not answerable to anyone and can't get fired. And they work in a monopoly.
Of course, we like to think Indian babus are either stupid, lazy, corrupt or a combination of the above because it's a mindset we have. But looking at how USCIS and the embassies above operate, I think Indians are pretty much on par with everyone else.
