Why is this being discusses here??
Just a dose of how things are on the other side. This may be more obvious when more companies start outsourcing.
On the other hand, this thing may not affect non IT folks.
My 2 cents - be careful at workplaces and try to avoid discussing about our issues with co workers, 99% of them are ALIPAC, NumbersUSA, Programmer's guild etc....

Thats what my Question is......how i am gonna prove it i paid 3k for my H1. They are deducting 500 (for my H1) everymonth from my paycheck in the name of CASH ADVANCE DEDUCTION.
I really want to teach them a lesson....so that they stop messing many vulenerable people like me who go to them every year. Could somebody tell me how i am gonna complain DOL in new jersey about this company and does DOL really takes any action.
Greencard is not i am much looking for......i am planning to go back to india after 2-3 years.

Will soon post specific regulation that says your employer cannot deduct H1 fee from your paycheck. Although, no one is going to dispute that, it is always good to keep it available to show it to DOL officer to put additional weight in your conversation, so that DOL officer knows that you have done your research and know the rules and regulations.

Also, DOL will tell you to file WH-4 form. They will assure you that you identity will will kept confidential. So you will never have to tell your employer that you are the one you cmplaint. They will simply plan a visit to your employer's office and summon all the records. And the truth will be know.

Looks like you are using online degree to support your case as well, that is why you are so pissed off. No matter how loud you shout or how many people you threaten about lawsuits and all that stuff, no one can deny the fact that an online degree does not have much of recognition.
Say in clear and simple words -- are online degrees from University of North Dakota, University of Massachusetts, North Eastern University etc. legit ? Yes or No
Your beating around the bush and twisting words just show you have no argument. Didn't your MBA teach you that there is something called logical argument? Or was your degree from the like of TVU ?
It is only YOU who think that online degree does not have recognition . If you are yet to understand the power of Online educatoin you are probably living in stone age.

In Maryland, they didnt ask for any document when I took my about to be expired DL to the MVA (Motor vehicles Admin) last year. The guy said as long as you have $30, we would renew your expired license!
However, getting a new DL for my wife was a nightmare. We had to schedule an
appointment through a phone line which worked only two or three days in a month! After many tries, we gave up!

I think there are about 15K primary applications (add to that dependents) with PD earlier than Dec 2005 with the majority of them PD earlier than April 2005. There was a surge of applicants in March just before PERM started in April 2005.

I agree with nixstor. I have my own template but not my personal story. It mostly highlights IV and its mission; plight of skilled legal-immigrants and in turn US' and also seek for some help from the media.
I recommend every one writing their own words rather than doing the copy/paste. If I were to recieve 10 emails with exactly the same content, it might make me feel like some ONE just sent 10 diff emails. IMHO, Its a good idea to write the gist of the story in your own words. Save it and use it for all the people in the media.

1) You have NO idea what it was like to find a lobbyist ready to work with us given a) We are dealing with a very sensitive issue b) We had only 10K in cash (5K raised by core members) and another 10K promised again by the core team. Do a real exercise and get a lobbyist to sign a contract with you for after revealing to them that you have only 20K. Try it now with even 50K and see how many lobbyists are ready to tow your line
2) Regarding your talk of Erin Brockovich and all, you do not even seem to grasp the fact that AILA is interested in the 11 million undocument workers. 500,000 skilled workers are nothing but a drop in the ocean compared to them.
In any case, have you done your part in contacting AILA? We have! Its easy to sit on the fence and complain but it takes conviction to actually DO something

Do you know how much a fine balance the Republicans and Democrats achieved and are not ready to take on anything that might disturb the balance? I don't think there is any way of knowing if your case is pre-adjudicated. The only way you will come to know is if you receive an RFE or an interview appointment.
Although officially so far, USCIS has not branded an I-485 status as "pre-adjudicated", if you haven't received any RFE and/or any other negative status about your 485, and if your case is outside the processing dates of the Service Center, then obviously dude your case is pre-adjudicated. I don't understand why most of the people are ignoring this simple fact. I think we need to stop consider USCIS a mystery box, and start treating it like an organization that processes the applications in a structured way.
I tend to believe that the offical status of being "pre-adjudicated" is coming soon. A few months back I read that USCIS is considering publishing another set of date known as "Qualifying Date" in their monthly visa bulletin. That date will define if you are "qualified" to file I-485. They will determine this date based on their workload. The idea behind is to avoid another July 2007 fiasco. They intend to process the 485's early rather than have you wait for your PD to become current. That way they will manage their workload efficiently and avoid visa wastage. Don't worry about this bill being rejected. I am pretty sure one way or the other they need to increase the EB visa number soon, else definetely USCIS will be in big trouble with thousands of applications sitting there for them, now having said that USCIS will find a way to get some bill which will have EB visa count increased passed in congress, so untill then cheer up and complete your filing.:) :) :)

I have been interviewing for couple of companies ...the first question they ask is ...Are you US citizen 2nd question r u Permanent resident ..no..

There was a guy in our office who used to complain about Chineese and Indians stealing jobs...Believe he is a big slacker ..he recently got fired...people like him form these programmers guilds.
We do not work for less and we are not paid less...may be they deduct our Gc expenses but not much
