They have stopped issuing intrim EAD from local office.
According to this from Murthy:
Generally, one may apply for an interim EAD card, if the EAD application has been pending more than 90 days if there is not an unanswered Request for Evidence (RFE) on an I-140, I-485, or I-765 that is pending with the USCIS for the applicant. The interim EAD may be obtained at a local USCIS office. To obtain an interim EAD, two USCIS-specified photographs and the 485 and EAD receipt notices are needed.

NK2006 thanks for the post my family and I recently entered US using AP and fortunately we were not questioned at POE. I am in similar situation waiting for 485 and filed AC21 when I changed jobs after six months.
That is not to say that we will not have problem in future. You mention your wife showed them a copy of rules pertaining to AC21. Can you post a link or post them here.
My lawyer never advised me to carry any such documents.

That apart Prudential has a term life policy where you get back the complete premium paid under this policy at the end of the term�. say for a 30 year term you paid a total premium of 30K in 30 years,, at the end of 30 years if you are still alive you will get back the 30K..

In that case whole life is better where the cash value generated would pay much more after 30 years based on a low 5.5 - 6% estimated annual return. But of course it is for folks who will stay in US at least 15 years+ because after 15 yeras the Cash Value could itself pay for the permium and you do not have to pay any more premuims unless you wish to boost the Cash Value further.

I did ask my friends but only thing I didn't poll it on IV.
Bottomline is with so many people waiting for their GCs. residency, H1-B other status in IV...the last thing in their radar is a poll on buying a house.....
My friend circle was enough for me to decide on such things than the hapless and ever-patient members of IV. Give them a break..........

Which service center? Guys, is this the normal trend? I guess the processing times webpage is showing ~ 3 months.

so TSC processing time actually retrogressed this month by 8 days if it is at June 21. For times of April, it shows that they are processing June 29, 2008.
what is going on man. when will they get to Aug 7. but then again, if EB3 is not avaialable then what si the point.

this is my 10th year in the US & never had a single incident along the racial lines.. probably I lucked out.. However, I don't subscribe to this opinion of removing moustache..... I am proud of my bushy moustache & have had women admire that at/outside work.. But I do agree 100% on all the other points you raised..

Your case is eligible the chances are high that you'll get it, if dates remain current. And as folks have mentioned, 180 days rule applies. Your infopass will tell you clearly what's happening to your NC but that is immaterial.
I realized your original question was about FP and its expiry and not about NC. So I withdrew my original post to remind you of the 180 day rule which says where the application is otherwise approvable and the FBI name check request has been pending for more than 180 days, the adjudicator shall approve the I-485 and proceed with card issuance.
Will you send me a PM the day you get a notification that 485 is approved? I guess now I am getting impatient, despite being fully aware of a possibility of dates retrogressing in the next bulletin.

Thanks for the feedback.. i will most likely be doing the same...wait for PP 140 to comeback and convert. I think its safer to work on a 3yr h1b than ead. But then while filing for h1b ext the dates must be retrogressed and not current.
