    That's exactly what I wanted to ask! How on earth are they going to prove a presence?

    1. Drivers license (that only shows the date they started)
    2. Utility bills (is that possible?)
    3. Bank statements (I'm not sure if undocumented ones get accounts)
    4. Employment proof (right...)
    5. Real estate titles

    I'm not saying they can't, but trying to think how...


    IRS accepts illegals to file IRS Tax returns. Many of the illegals do that (they use ITIN #'s instead of SS#).

    Mr greyhair with brown matter,
    I don�t know those folks you are comparing with me. I just said that IV opened a donor only post in wake of delayed April visa bulletin. I wonder why they did this as this was the time to educate/ inform all the members with whatever information they had (Now it is proved they had no info). This is not what a �non profit� organization or any organization would do in a time of uncertainty
    This is obvious that IV can not dictate either USCIS or DOL nor they had any information on April visa bulletin but they did not have to hide anything related to delayed visa bulletin fom the non paying members.
    IV is a great platform that bring together all of us under one umbrella so that we all share the information and make plans on how to make employee based immigration more hassle free.
    As far as is concerned yes I go there and my id there is same as here. I go there so that I could share my knowledge and experience and gather the same from other folks in the same boat as me and this is the same reason I visit IV.
    As far donation is concerned I donated once but after that I could not do it for my personal reasons. I will definitely donate once I am out of my crisis, but yes whenever, there has been any campaign initiated by IV of sending letters or faxes I have done my part sincerely.
    I don�t know why people like you think that is there enemy in fact they both are there for the same cause and can work together (I don�t know about any past clashes if any between and IV management)
    All I want is that IV be more informative to its members.
    So Mr brown matter don�t talk more than what your brain can think of.

    You are accusing IV for cheating before saying IV is a great platform. Can't you make up your mind. You sound more like that Congressman Massa from NY. I am no Glenn beck so now don't start to tickle me.

    only other thing that would help India EB2,3 would be to use these recaptured numbers to be used ONLY for priority dates older than 3years or something like that. Even if achieve legislation to recapture the EB numbers.. unlesss we seek something like this EB India will be screwed for ever.

    I am on page with you. I did it 3 weeks back. Now I am starting the whole labor at the new company , making almost 140K (60% more) with a fortune 20 company . Good position and happier......

    I did the same and didn't hung up myself on GC .... life is more than GC let us live our life.

    Although they promise a lot of things on paper, we generally skip reading the fine print. Fine print generally would include this clause (language will be a bit different)...
    "Although these are our policies, these might change at any time, with or without written notice".
    End of story to all 'You promised me gold in your agreement' arguments.


    There was no fine print on the appointment letter. There wasn't even fuzzy wording (like "we may" or "in most circumstances" etc).
    Although I'm clearly educated about how the system works now, back then, at age 24, I wasn't. I was foolish enough to trust and believe that they would keep their word; they are after all, big multinational companies.
    I don't want other young Indian/foreign immigrants to fall into the same predicament.
    The sooner they realize that Human Resources is the most inhuman department in a company, the better.


    Practically speaking, if you think from a company's perspective also, I don't blame them. Would you (Mr OP sir) be willing to invest in something that you are not sure that you will get profit from it? Like, you give me 100$, I may give it back+10%interest or may not give it back. If I want to give it back, I may give it back in 2yrs or even 30yrs, 100 yrs its upto me, depending on some citing of random comet I choose.
    Same thing in company's point of view, if they invest in endless lawyer fees, filing fees, humongous paperwork and easily these days GC process take 5-35 years and during/after this time, What is the guarantee that you will still stick with the company - after all this investment of time & money? Companies need visible & predictable ROIs.


    In large companies, the Legal department doesnt exist solely for GCs and Immigration related matters. The cost of immigration is barely a drop in the overall cost of maintaining such a department, and hence your logic is wrong.


    It is an unfortunate truth we all need to get accustomed to live with.

    No, we dont need to get accustomed to being lied to, or being treated as skilled slaves.
    If you side with the law and say that the companies are not obligated to process GCs, then they should not be offering the same. Also, the law as it currently stands, is unjust and I'd much sooner see the law be changed to something like "if you've worked here for 6 years, paid taxes etc, then you can apply for a GC yourself based on just that"


    I guess it is in our Indian blood to expect freebies/extra perks from government, from employers (being socialist, a bit communist country and what not), and we forget it is the FREE MARKET that rules here.

    lol. Firstly, there is no such thing as a "free market". Wake up already.
    Secondly, the US is more socialist than India is.
    Thirdly, A GC is not a freebie/extra perk. A GC is a good-faith agreement between the company, the future employee and the governing body(USCIS), and companies should understand the ethical meaning of "good faith".


    If your skills are in high demand, they will make you the king. If supply is high for your skills, they will go for someone cheaper..
    Yea sure, I'd like to see all the high skilled kings that have been made by companies.
    It is a fallacy that skill, intellect or IQ has meaning/importance in the US.
    At the end of the day, you are just another desk jockey.

    Even GC holders are required to carry thier GCs all the time.

    The point, like ACLU said, is : People should not be stopped/searched/questioned for no reason. It must be done only in response to a suspicious activity.

    This treatment of non-citizens vs. citizens is similar to black people not allowed to sit in the front seats. Just a new form of profiling.

All i can say is i know of a real top notch lawyer and who has got green card done for most of my employees and is really good at what she does.     Applications already properly filed will be accepted, means all applications from the 2nd July to 16th July will be accepted if properly filed (Means: If they have the proper documents and are otherwise eligible, meaning filing fees and certified labor)

    Exactly, I posted the same on Greg's blog as a response. How ever, you should be calling USCIS if you do not receive a Receipt number in 30 days or if your checks are not cashed. There are not many AOS applications filed after first week of July. 3 to 4 weeks time frame is common turn around time. Dont freak out until then.

    Hello folks,
    I just signed up for $ 20 a month contribution to IV. I hope this helps to fight for our cause. I did talk to few people that I know who are in the same boat as we are, and hope they join IV and contribute.
