Dear Sir/Madam,
In your Online Edition the following section in a news item is misleading and misinforming.
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1191...googlenews_wsj
"HIGH-TECH EMPLOYERS get lift from House Republican letter to Speaker Pelosi urging passage of immigration bill to help "attract and retain" high-skilled workers. But in the poll, 56% of Republicans earning more than $75,000 annually would "strongly" or "partially" agree with candidate who would bar illegal immigrants from path to citizenship."
High Tech Employers DO NOT employ "Illegal Aliens". All immigrants sponsored by employers are law abiding LEGAL immigrants. Your news item is defamatory and libelous to legal Highly Skilled Immigrants who have been waiting for years, some as long as 6-7 years.
Please take corrective action to rectify the mistake ASAP.
Thanks In Advance.

Dear snehaledu, You raise a good point. Am I IV policeman? The answer is NO. Guess, it is the responsibility of all the members to police themselves. And I saw that it was not happening here, thus my question about the relevance of this thread.
I support Sanju.
Moreover, IV doesn't represent INDIAN employment based legal immigrants, this forum is for all nationalities. Threads like these make this forum seem like it is relevant to only Indians. We need to be mindful of other members who are not from India.

This resource and other resources were listed in the thread http://immigrationvoice.org/forum/showthread.php?t=694&page=6
'ideas to increase publicity' but only few members took active interest and participated.
Now that we have you, i am sure you would help in this effort by sending out emails yourself and also other members can join you to contact media. I wish we can all send multiple emails to every newspaper, every tv station and radio station in this country and apprise them of our cause. such letters urging news orgs to cover our issue will help us get much needed media attention and then something will DEFNITELY happen in the coming months.
LOoks like the AILA link does not provide email addresses for every listing. I have sent emails to 4 media outlets in my area in Colorado.

hopein07,
Financial planners reccommend term because one would need the coverage until a major mile stone in life is reached - paying off home mortgage, children completing college education, etc.
.
You should have life insurance till your last breath so you could pass huge wealth to your heir for little amount like 1million for $100/month at 60s or 70s of your age

hey aadimanav,
If the legislations dont change - my estimate would be even more than 7 years (come on they already have 500k pending app before this 300k July2nd boom). In USCIS term It doesn't matter where you stand in line out of that 800K folks. The NSC july 2nd filers are speculated to be transfered to TSC almost 2 months down the line and no one has guaranted that our Original Receipt date of July 2nd be kept intact - How do you logically map this ??
What Franklin said very logical - very realistic !
Thanks,
Diptam
I like your word: "guestimate" (Guess + Estimate) i.e. tukka (hindi word)
Well, I don't think I am at the end of line of 300,000 people. There must be lots and lots of people whose priority date is after April 2004 might have filed. This includes 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007.
So I think 3 years is intelligent guess. But who knows I am just trying to make myself happy and trying to stay positive.
:)

Days when President started talking about fighting to make sure the immigration bill be passed, I felt even people who are here legally should get a fair chance. Not that it is a competetion for immigration, but its playing a fair game.
The immigration bill if passed, will come and stop at the same place where everyone of us are in now or even worse and pulls the whole system down.
I'm glad to see such a thing like immigration voice. This will make the law makers think with a broader mind.
Cheers!

pg. 53:
"There will be severe consequences from rapid fluctuations in priority dates. If the priority date became current today, due to delayed USCIS processing and thus underutilization of visa numbers, some have predicted that within a few months as many as 500,000 to 750,000 individuals now residing in the United States under a temporary worker visa could apply for a green card. Additionally, DOLs recent backlog elimination efforts, scheduled to be completed by September 30, 2007, are predicted to add 70,000 or more approved labor certifications yielding as many as 170,000 additional green card applications. As USCIS begins to complete these applications and request visa numbers from DOS, the 140,000 statutorily authorized visa numbers will be used. DOS then will be required to retrogress priority dates. Consequently, most applicants in this scenario will find themselves trapped where as they anticipated timely receipt of a green card, their wait exceeds seven or more years. In addition, all future employment-based green card applicants effectively would be barred from applying for many years."

I've been having similar thoughts for quite some time. Whether I should move back to india which is a one way street or continue here waiting to get my GC, citizenship etc.
Here is my analysis of the situation without considering the emotional parameters involved
1) India is currently on a fast track to development thanks for the IT industry. There are a lot of jobs and salaries are sky rocketting. A lot of people in India are living a life in India which we can only dream of here in the US.
2) BUT I also read about the growing cost of conducting business in India. Definitely with salaries increasing by leaps and bounds, rupee appreciating against the dollar, high taxes and infrastucture cost has already got companies thinking about their businesses in India.
3) Many are thinking of moving to southeast asian countries like Singapore, malaysia, phillipines, even China.
4) Even if they dont move out I am not sure if the current trend in salaries will continue. It will definitely correct itself in next 3-4 years. Companies would tend to hire more fresh graduates than hiring experienced personnel.
4) I am not sure with all these developments how would things be in India in next few years. If I move to india and then have to move to these south east asian countries then why not be in US and ride out this turbulent period.
but then if you include the emotional factors in this equation it totally changes everything.
As of now at least I am confused about what to do but I guess every first generation that moves out of their home town has to go through the same thought process, only the immigration to US is complicating things further.
What will happen next is something for time to tell...!!
Good luck to all of us and may god help us all to make correct decisions.

Kaka you really have a win-win situation. If somehow something gets passed in lame duck then you will be happy with your GC. if nothing happens and priority dates don't move forward then you can always tell others " I told you it is scam and you did not believe it".
When I said this is a SCAM and they just dont want us to have Greencard. Everybody got mad at me.
Lets see when we will get GreencardsGod Knows.
KAKA will not say anything
